Everything you need to know about the latest Facebook scam.
If you’ve been a Facebook user for more than 10 minutes you probably already know that scams and hoaxes pop up all the time here … Lost Pets, Found Pets, Injured Pets, Catalytic Converter Thieves , Lost Elderly People, A National Chain Will Give You A Free Dinner For 2 Just For Liking A Post, Facebook Will Start Charging You $$$ A Month ( It’s True , I Saw It On The News ) ! And the ever popular “ I Do Not Give Facebook Permission To Use My Picture Or Data” Scam … No, posting on Facebook won’t protect your photos or data.
Despite many claims stating otherwise, you cannot prevent Facebook from using your data or photos by posting a message on Facebook. Facebook is bound by its privacy rules and terms of service that BTW you agreed to when you signed up. Simply posting something on your page cannot and will not “ bypass the system “ !
Facebook scams feed off of the gullible. But the main reason for this blog is the hoax where Facebook is keeping you from seeing posts from your friends. Or Facebook is only showing you posts from 25 of your friends. You’ve all seen these posts , over and over and over I’m sure. I’m also sure a great many of you have shared this hoax on your own timeline knowing it’s probably a hoax but doing it anyway ( better safe than sorry, Right) . No !!! These fake scams are aimed at seeing just how many gullible folks will copy and paste them to their own timelines.
The supposed “fix” is to copy and paste the text of the hoax post onto your Timeline in order to “bypass the system”.
Unfortunately, the only thing posting the hoax on your Timeline will do is ensure that even more folks see it and post it on their Timelines.
The exact wording of this hoax varies quite a bit, but it typically looks something like this:
“It WORKS!! I have a whole new news feed. I’m seeing posts from people I haven’t seen in years.
Here’s how to bypass the system FB now has in place that limits posts on your news feed.
Their new algorithm chooses the same few people – about 25 – who will read your posts. Therefore,
Hold your finger down anywhere in this post and “copy” will pop up. Click “copy”. Then go your page, start a new post and put your finger anywhere in the blank field. “Paste” will pop up and click paste.
This will bypass the system.
If you are reading this message, do me a favor and leave me a quick comment…a “hello,” a sticker, whatever you want, so you will appear in my newsfeed‼️ It WORKS!! I have a whole new news feed. I’m seeing posts from people I haven’t seen in years.“
Just an FYI , copying and pasting anything on your timeline is not going to do a single thing. Think about it. How could that possible be a fix. Any of you folks that have done this can easily attest to the fact that nothing on your timeline has changed. You’re still seeing all those ads ( there’s a way to stop those btw but that’s another post for later) and still not seeing posts from a lot of your friends.
The real problem is with Facebook’s algorithm and your own behavior on Facebook. No copying and pasting is going to fix it. But you can …read on .
If you never interact with a given friend’s posts by liking them, commenting on them or sharing them, Facebook’s algorithm will conclude (incorrectly in most cases) that you aren’t interested in seeing things they post. Therefore, Facebook will stop placing that friend’s posts in your Newsfeed after a while. They’re still posting but by you never interacting with them eventually you’ll stop seeing their posts.
This is why you probably have people on your friends list whose posts never show up in your Newsfeed.
Just because you never see a certain friend’s posts doesn’t mean that person wasn’t lucky enough to end up in a golden group of 25 users Facebook has anointed with the privilege of showing up on your page. It simply means that in the past you never interacted with that person’s posts so Facebook assumed (incorrectly or not) that you don’t want to see them. Nasty Algorithm !
But, and please understand this … Facebook is NOT limiting your Newsfeed to “the same 25 friends”. They’re actually limiting your Newsfeed to the friends whose posts you regularly interact with.
If there are people on your friends list that you never hear from anymore and you’d like to start seeing their posts again, all you need to do is visit their Timeline every few days and interact with a few of their posts by liking them, commenting on them and/or sharing them.
Before long Facebook’s algorithm will pick up on the fact that you’re interested in those friends’ posts and start placing them in your Newsfeed again.
Once a user’s posts start showing up on their own you can stop visiting that friend’s Timeline so often and simply keep interacting with their posts as they hit your Newsfeed. Tah Dah ! Now You’ve Fixed Your Own Newsfeed And Yes THIS Will Work !
In summary, Facebook isn't limiting your Newsfeed to 25 friends but rather to those whose posts you regularly engage with. If you want to see posts from friends you've lost touch with, start interacting with their content—like, comment, or share. Facebook's algorithm will catch on, and their posts will reappear in your Newsfeed.
In conclusion, Facebook isn't restricting your Newsfeed; your online behavior plays a crucial role. So, ditch the hoax, engage with your friends' posts, and share the love! Feel free to thank me by sharing this post!
