The Lung - Hiatus Kaiyote — Free Spotify Playlist Submission

Triumph. The anticipation, suspense, and finally when we're lucky the crescendo. Lung by exemplifies this in the form of pure adrenaline. Like jumping off a cliff into the icey waters below. Or, speeding down an an autumn road at night with the windows down. Or, something different altogether I'll let you decide. No matter how if feels to you however, there is no denying it makes you FEEL.

With You - Noname — Free Spotify Playlist Submission

I can't think of a better way to introduce rap into "Sooth the Soul" then with Noname. A staple in any conversation about Chicago hiphop, poetry, or art in general. With You reminds me of raps uncanny ability to showcase the heights spoken word can take art.

What I've always loved about Noname is how effortlessly she combines jazz, poetry, and something unique. Straight from the soul as if she couldn't speak from anywhere else. The song opens and at the drums feel unpredictable, maybe even unsettling. Slowly everything becomes homogenous. Noname's vocals create a haven. Guided by her verbal truths the chaos settles and slowly begins to makes sense. With you any place can feel like home.

Cope - Blumoon — Free Spotify Playlist Submission

Cope is an emotional barrage against the addict in our lives or even, in us. Mass begins with the organ and this lesson is no different. The sermon pulls no punches. "You always knew you were an addict so you never tried to quit". Music hits hard sometimes. I challenge us this week in particular to really contemplate the message, get lost in the music. How do you cope?

BluMoon discography really impressed me. An emerging group from San Marcos, Texas blends the best of what jazz, and alternative have to offer. Their new album "Slow Burn" is really worth checking out. Let's show them the love they deserve! As always, thanks for stopping by (follow the socials and playlist plzzzzz) and see you next week!

Show Me How - Men I Trust — Free Spotify Playlist Submission

I imagine this what what the sirens call would have sounded like right before the sailors would fall under the mermaids spell. Each beat coming right on time, effortlessly. Vocally, Emma Proulx finds a way to sound as though she's singing from the depths of your dream. Guiding you towards some sort of deep seated realization, or maybe a memory long forgotten.

What makes this song fit perfectly into the playlist is Jessy Caron's ability to drive the song forward. Adding just a touch of "umph" with a bass line that brings groove to the dreamscape. Enjoy and remember to follow to see next weeks song, another treat!!

Alright - Jordan Rakei — People Powered Playlists - Free Playlist Submission

There are few voices that can cut to the soul as effortlessly as Jordan Rakei's. Give this song 5 seconds and you'll see why.

Music to Soothe The Soul

Ironically, I've always used music to communicate what I can't say in words and am now doing the reverse. Fundamentally, this playlist is soul personified. I want it to be able to flow when played in order yet, still be consistent in quality and vibe when on shuffle. This will take community. So please make sure to follow my social media links as well as the playlist itself. I'd also love to hear from you! So reach out and message me what you love, what you think, and your own track suggestions!

All that being said, I'm committed to search high and low to showcase the very best. Neo-soul, Jazz, RnB, Hiphop and numerous newer styles will be on full display here . All in the pursuit of making a playlist that speaks directly to the soul in each of us.
