We are gearing up to chase the BIG THREE here in Arkansas!!!! While y’all who have been here awhile know that Melanistic Fox Squirrels are my FAVORITE color phase, the fact that we have 3 recognized subspecies makes the state of Arkansas one of the most diverse squirrel populations when it comes to Fox Squirrels in all of North America!!! Can’t wait to see the differences chase the adventures and showcase even more of the Fox Squirrel experiences that truly make these animals a TROPHY worth chasing!!!

NOW it’s OFFICIAL the first SQUIRREL SPECIFIC KAYAK is here and ready for some TLC to get rigged up with the specialty equipment I have dreamed up…. It will be a learning process and I’m sure the stories will pile up quick!!! But say hello to the SQWAK MODEL 1 never will be seen in stores 😂😂😂

Carolina

Crossing over the state line my dreams of hunting squirrels in another state were coming true. From the moment I crossed the line everything changed. Entering into the first hunting area I immediately realized this wasn’t going to be like anything I’ve ever done. The Sandhills aren’t a Greenland Iceland conspiracy! The hills are sand and from my first look at them I knew we weren’t in Arkansas anymore! The adventure just getting to where I had scouted online became an adventure of a lifetime! From the first creek crossing into the first meeting with Uncle Skippy the trip had already surpassed my wildest dreams!!!!

I met Unc and told him where I was headed and he simply said I would go that way not that… and I headed out… I scouted and thought I found a good spot… headed back and was gonna tuck in for a nap to start hammering down…. ended up talking to the FAUX SQUIRREL LEGENDS of the HOFFMAN!!!! We talked the fire to sleep and once again the trip had already become a first trio of a lifetime!!!!

The hunt the next morning I setup and saw a squirrel I just knew that I would get it done (44 yards the next one I’d be ready!!! At lunchtime I laid eyes on the first fox squirrel I had seen in person in Carolina and it sent me through the roof!!!! Then I met the KING OF THE HOFFMAN!!!! They told me they had seen 5 and picked that one out… only one other squirrel was seen by the legends and it was a little red (he got a understood pass). I headed out early and sat all evening my phone died and I did a series of calls I’d been sitting for 4 hours and hadn’t seen a thing… then the skunk came walking up… at 7 yards my whole trip was made when the skunk turned into a squirrel!!!! And not just one I looked at the trees and there right above me I found two more!!!! I had to start sorting things out quick and I got my full dose of FOX FEVER!!!!!! (To be continued)

There are tons of styles of squirrel hunting! But at the base level squirrel hunting is the fundamental building block and let’s face it the cheapest start to the hunting lifestyle. The foundation being strong allows you to grow and experience future adventures in the outdoors but squirrel hunting should ALWAYS be a part of your hunting adventures

When you have the chance scout your spots as deep as possible. Pre range the places you have harvested squirrels at or see them commonly… doing this will give you the confidence of knowing exactly where your ethical shot opportunities are with EXACT distance to dial in perfectly! Everytime you go add as much information as you can… you see a squirrel eating go look add a note if it’s ”hard feeding area” or if it’s a transition point… if the squirrels keep hitting that spot and disappearing go take a look and see if there’s a hole (den tree)… squirrels are prey animals they are omnivorous and they are smart!!! Use every tool you have and enjoy every moment

Countdown is in its final stages!!!!!

Fired up to be heading out on my first out of state hunt!!! Chasing squirrels in a whole new place getting to talk squirrels with some fellas who have forgot more than I’ll probably ever know and chasing the adventures across North Carolina!!!

Cannot wait to share the adventure with y’all!!! We will be filming and taking tons of pictures!!!! But the focus is always gonna be the experience and enjoying the moments!!!!

13 miles covered and a camp out! Hunting for places that are gonna be a little better for group activities!!! Last minute it all came together but was an epic adventure before the safety came off! Been a long day full of berry picking and clearing my head. Things are heating up and sleeping without a pillow or blankets or anything I thought might make me regret it… DEFINITELY don’t!!! Sometimes you just gotta get all the way to the basics and just have a BLAST!!!!

Squirrels Ain’t Dumb!!!

There’s a reason squirrels are used in brain research! Not just because they can solve puzzles or they are natural conservationists! Squirrels have to get smart to stay alive!!! They face threats 365 days out of the year from above below and everywhere in between! Looking at our experiences in the early season squirrels stick to the high canopy it gives them a chance to avoid threats from the ground and provides some added security from the threats from above. As the season progresses they start dropping into the mid and lower canopy and wouldn’t ya know the food they rely on to survive follows the same pattern!!! Natural progression is a type of evolution and when it comes to squirrels in North America you get a shining example of it in action! Squirrels are interesting critters and looking at them close there’s some preety amazing stuff they do without even thinking about it!

Squirrel Hunting is a legacy that predates European Colonization…

Native Americans utilized squirrels as a food source at times as a staple of their diets and with the introduction of colonists the methods were shared. With the expansion into the wilderness colonists relied on this food source in their travels. Daniel Boone in his adventures shared his method of “barking squirrels”. Fast forwarding to the Great Depression the methods evolved with technology but families relied on small game across North America when the hardships they were facing affected their ability to provide food through purchase. Having the history squirrel hunting proves itself to be an integral part of the hunting tradition across North America. Often portrayed as pest control or eradication the fundamental lessons are rapidly being lost to the pages of history.

Researching and experiencing the varying past and present day methods has been eye opening. Reading about times when having the skills and knowledge meant a true difference to a persons well being it becomes clear that squirrel hunting is a piece of our history worth preserving! From the first colonists to mountain men to the men who introduced me to squirrel hunting. At a time when squirrel hunting is the dying art and the legacy is fading I’m proud to be a squirrel hunter!!!

Orders will be distributed!!!! We appreciate everyone who has supported us with orders and want to clarify the system. At the top of the site there was a date may 20 that said deadline. Orders were then pulled to be fulfilled and distributed! I understand that some orders were placed well before the deadline and apologize for the delay! Y’all’s support means the world to us and we apologize for any inconveniences this has caused! All orders placed prior to may 20 will be distributed within the deadline that was set of 2-3 weeks and we will make sure that this system is ran in the best way possible and clarify all system operations in future orders! Precision Squirrel Hunting

Personally this is my passion within the passion!!!

Hunting squirrels is challenging and exciting! Add in the challenge to only take the most ethical shots and no matter what time of season it is you add to the experience!!! Learning new ways to improve as a hunter has led to some amazing adventures, but no matter what from the last day of season to opening day I get even more excited to sneak into the spots in hopes of getting the squirrels fired up! The more I pursue this style of hunting the deeper the experience gets from watching other animals move around super close to getting to learn more about squirrel behavior watching the ones that just ain’t coming home! Filming hunts wasn’t something we were gonna pursue but we started and we’re enjoying adding that aspect. As season progresses it’s our hope to share longer content and show how much actually goes into getting those “perfect” shots setup. Not just what we do but what the squirrels do! Through using different calls and setups the interactions with the squirrels we are pursuing changes and by actively pursuing Precision Squirrel Hunting we take part in conservation on every single hunt! Seeing tons of squirrels is amazing and by only being able to take the ones that allow us the oppourtunity and having to have everything go right we are promoting fair chase and we hope to be promoting the ethical harvest of these amazing creatures! It takes a lot of squirrels to feed a few people but this style of hunting promotes more trips into the woods which always leads to new and exciting adventures!!!

Squirrel Hunting is a HUGE oppourtunity!!!

When it comes to deer hunting or elk hunting your talking about a bigger animal and to many these types of animals represent a TROPHY HUNT!!! It’s an achievement to harvest a mature animal no matter the means of harvest the level of skill it takes to get close to these animals to truly hunt them and then acheive the desires result is a task we tip our hats to because as hunters we know the commitment it takes and what it means to a hunter to accomplish this! Squirrel Hunting gives you the skills and ability to practice this on a great day MULTIPLE TIMES!!! Anyone who tells you it doesn’t take skills ain’t ever done it or been too long since they have. Go into the woods in early season facing the heat the leaves and debris in the canopy on some days just picking the squirrels out is an accomplishment. But on those great days you will get the opportunity to feel that adrenaline that comes when you have gotten to the right place to harvest them. And you get one shot that’s gonna have to be spot on! It ain’t that easy sneaking on a critter that’s name literally means SHADOW!!!! They can jump and twist and cover the area they live in better than you ever hope to ain’t no climbing a tree and catching em… you have to pick your spots you have to know the critters and you gotta know that you can get it done when the chance comes. It ain’t just about shooting at animals or putting meat in the freezer and that’s why we push to do it different! We chase TROPHY squirrels!!! We get in the spots we learn everything we can about the areas and we look for mature animals that we can harvest with precise shots and try to challenge ourselves so we grow and learn as much as possible everytime we go out!!! Getting out in the woods in pursuit of some of the smallest critters gives you the chance to really see where all the little things add up to be the skills necessary to get it done on larger TROPHIES!!! If you want to get out and learn those skills or knock the dust off we encourage ya to grab your rifle and hit the woods chasing some TROPHY SQUIRRELS!!!!

We are working behind the scenes to keep taking things where they need to go! Doors are opening and it’s crazy to think of where we started to where we have come! But looking and moving forward is exciting and that’s where the focus is!!! Lessons learned in the woods and in the books we are starting to see where the dream is going and can’t tell y’all how much it means to be in this position! Opening week has been amazing!!!

Things have changed this year in ALOT of ways!!!

But the one thing I have taken from this week is that this is fun!!!! I fell in love with squirrel hunting when I was 10 or 11… generally going to the woods I always had someone with me!!! And those memories were sunk DEEP!!!! Walking in the woods now even thousands of miles from the woods I cut my teeth in little things bring those moments back. Getting to talk squirrels with people I’ll say something that is just a repeat of what I was told by my grandpa or my uncles. Hunting is deeper than just going in the woods and harvesting an animal. The Brand was made with those moments in mind! A place where memories can be made where moments can be shared and people can come together over something as simple as squirrel hunting and make it mean something! It’s personal and it’s deep but it’s not for everyone and that’s great to! I took the heart of it out at times in the past and it’s clear why we had lessons learned the hard way and at times repeated. Because at the end of the day it’s not business it’s not a group it’s just me being me and ultimately just wanting to use what I love to connect and grow with people!!! Why do we sell shirts and hats and hoodies… well because I couldn’t afford the cool camo you can’t go to the store and buy SQUIRREL GEAR you can buy turkey gear, deer gear, pheasant gear… but squirrel specific NOPE (call a camo distributor and they literally will laugh if you request squirrel gear they’ll tell you something that’ll sound alot like “the turkey vest will work, the upland stuff will suit ya”) and I figured ya know what let’s change that to while we’re here!!!! Everything we do has a reason behind it some of its so deep I’ve never shared it… but it’s there it’s in me and this year it’s coming out!!!! We get one chance in this life and because of squirrel hunting I stopped chasing an early grave and started enjoying everyday!!!! Squirrel Hunters ELITE is the legacy I inherited it’s the memories it’s the miles it’s the friends who have become family it’s the struggles it’s the harvests it’s everything all in one!!!! From thousands of hours and hopefully thousands more of taking the moments and putting them together to build something that someone will look at and say now that’s something I want to try!!!! Whether it’s new projects new lessons crazy adventures this is more than a picture on a hat or a t shirt it’s more than a shot on a squirrel it’s US and we ain’t going NOWHERE!!!!

Got off this morning and flew to the spot! Usually wouldn’t wade in the swamp until late season but desperate times call for desperate measures! Figured the Melanistic squirrel im chasing would be in the same area so stayed quiet and the squirrels were everywhere. Been testing to see what call is gonna get us the best action and we got em absolutely chattering. Squirrels were everywhere then 2 decided to join the party and let everyone know I was there. Safety came off and we got a 24 yard shot to start the day the other one ran like his tail was on fire letting em know I was there he stopped at 49 and we took the long shot of the day. The mosquitoes were eating me up like OFF was sugar water but stuck with it and saw some awesome stuff hoping it’s all on camera!!! Ended the day with a 43 yard shot on the third and headed home to get them ready to make jerky!
