Obituary: Bobby (Bob) Joe Conner
Funeral Service were 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Newcastle First Baptist Church. Committal Service will be at Fairview Cemetery in Tuttle, OK under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
Bob was born to Vergie and Joe Conner in Oklahoma City at Saint Anthony Hospital on April 23, 1941. Interestingly enough, he was the only child of Joe and Vergie to be born in an actual hospital. Bob was raised in Tuttle, Oklahoma along with his sister Louise and brother Shorty. He attended Tuttle High School where he graduated in 1959. Upon graduation, he attended OSU Technological School in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, where he studied to become a Master Diesel Mechanic.
In 1968 Bob married Glenda Cruzan and together they raised 4 boys: Alan of Foster, OK, Billy Joe deceased in 1983 , Michael Glen deceased in 1996, and Jay of Foster, OK. In 1992 Bob married Jenna McCutchen-Millican, together they formed a modern Brady Bunch and combined their homes and families. To form this union, they added Jennaβs three teenage daughters to the mix, and Bob was accused many times of either loving without end or being downright crazy. Although his words were sometimes few, Bob never left a sliver of doubt about his love for his family. He never missed an opportunity to be with family; one of his favorite outings included lunch with his grandson Ayden on Chicken Fried Steak days at the Senior Center in Tuttle.
Although he required a bucket to carry his tunes, he loved music fiercely; even the first date he took Jenna on was a George Straight concert. Jenna is an active member of the Singing Churchwomen of Oklahoma and Bob never missed a concert and most of the time you could hear him singing along from the pews. They loved to travel and spent a large portion of their retirement exploring the world together.
Through the years Bob was the patriarch and foundation of the home while working tireless hours to always support his family and personally show them the value of hard work. He retired in 1998 from UPS as one of their lead Diesel Mechanic and still to the day he passed, he never figured out how to stop working.
Although Bob had an incredible life with his family, we would be amiss to not talk about his relationship with his Savior. In 1980 Bob found the boundless love of God and surrendered his life to Christ. From the very first moments of Christianity, Bob dedicated his life to furthering the message of Christ. His favorite days of the week were the ones he spent in visitation taking the gospel into his community. In 1981, Bob went through the process and honor of becoming a Deacon at Ridgecrest Baptist Church. Through the years and with his meek example, Bob showed his family, community and friends exactly what it meant to love like Christ. He will forever be missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Vergie Conner; children, Billy Joe Conner and Michael Glen Conner; and step-daughter, Amy Mason.
Bob is survived by his wife, Jenna (McCutchen-Millican) Conner; children, Alan Dale Conner, Joy Millican and Ken Mettler, Jean Florea and Michael Florea, and Jay Evan Conner; grandchildren, Michael Conner (Maggie) and Wyatt Conner (Ashley), Chealsea Cargill (Tanner), Derek McGuire (Tiffany), Madison Crawford (Connor), Rheuben Green, Sierra Reed (Kendrell), Taylor Green, Lauren Mason(Larry), Bryan Mason (Donnia), Bradley Mason, Ayden Conner; great-grandchildren, Cashion, Owen, Tatum, Conner, Weston, Blakeleigh, Parker, Addison, Zuri Bell, Kamryn, Kyndal, Kynlee, Liam, Brynlee; brother, J.B.
