New bike day is always special.
My fresh Propain Bicycles Spindrift might look similar to the past couple ones I have had but I made some little changes that are actually quite noticeable when riding.
Seat post: to get the most clearance with my butt I went to a 150mm dropper from OneUp Components instead of the 180 down to 170 I use normally. That gives a little bit more space to tackle the gnarliest lines.
Cranks: for the past ten years I have used 170mm on all my bikes including my downhill bike. I had a great experience with that length on my Glory back in 2013 where I felt like it was helping me generate more power when trying to hit a gap, so I have never gone shorter. With using a 27,5 wheel on this 29 frame (because I wanted to keep the longer chainstays that the mullet frame does not have), gaining clearance is something that has been important so I went down to a set of ROTOR Bike Components Kapic 165mm with a 30t oval ring to help when it gets spicy.
Spring: I went up to a 500lbs coil on my DVO Suspension Jade X to get the bike to seat higher (less SAG). It feels more dynamic, faster and more capable.
Grips: after years on the Ergon Bike GE1 factory I might have found a new favourite... The all new GDH have been awesome so far, and I particularly love them when I ride with no gloves because the rubber is softer. The waffle design also gives more grip. Due to their shape compare to the GE1 I also went back to 750mm bars versus 745 prior.
Tires: I run the mythic combo Assegai and DHRII from Maxxis Tires in Double Down when I pedal but when I do more bikepark (which I'm about to go and do) I like the downhill casing better for added support and performance.
Headset: for my riding I have wanted to slacken the bike and increase the reach so I got a Works Components 5mm reach adjuster that also offers an extra 10mm of height below the frame.
