Happy Wednesday!

A WINTER STORM WATCH was issued overnight last night in anticipation for our winter storm on Friday I’ve been talking about for a while now…

Right now the current forecast from the NWS calls for generally 4-8 inches of snowfall across our two counties.

This is going to be a very impactful system for our area with travel problems lasting potentially into next week, especially on backroads…

Some of y'all are getting really excited about the forecast for snow on Friday. And why not!?! YOLO!

The setup has begun with very cold air moving into the region. Over the next few days, most of us will have lows in the teens and highs in the 30s. That is around 15 degrees below normal for those keeping score at home.

The big action will commence Friday into Saturday as a classic Gulf low pressure system brings a swath of snow from Texas to the Mid Atlantic, including a possible blanket of winter wonder for Middle Tennessee.

It is still a little soon for us to pinpoint exact amounts or ranges, so we continue to look at computer statistics and probabilities. The main stat we are highlighting this morning is the potential for greater than 2 inches of snow. We are seeing a 60 to 80 percent chance for at least 2 inches. That means travel impacts should be expected. As we look to higher amounts, we see a 35 to 50% chance for more than 3 inches of snow. That is well into bread, milk, and eggs territory. Could the forecast bust? Well, duh. It's a weather forecast, so of course it could. But for now the setup looks good for snow with cold air in place and a big slug of moisture coming our way. Now is a good time to prepare and consider changes or options for any travel plans.

If the forecast doesn't work out, just think of all that French toast you will enjoy after watching your disappointed kids trying to sled down a muddy hill. YOLO!
