50 Years ago my father started the German American Radio program with Rudy Stumpf on WTTM - 920, on Sunday mornings in Trenton. They went their separate ways after a few years, but my father was for many years on WTTM, and also on WJDM in Elizabeth which gave him a reach from Delaware up to New York and Long Island. It helped reach a broad audience of German-Americans and bring a piece of German culture home with traditional and current music.
After WTTM switched formats, we moved to WNWR in Philadelphia, and then to the current home on WWDB AM 860
I continued hosting the show with my mother's help in 2010 when my father passed away and am happy to celebrate the 50th anniversary today.

Don't forget to set your clocks ahead an hour tonight - Saturday to Sunday. Some flowers are already blooming, but at the moment it does not feel like Spring is just around the corner. Because of the storm along the east coast of the US it is very windy and even snowing. Hopefully all of you are warm and well.
Nicht vergessen. Kommende Nacht - Samstag auf Sonntag- stellen wir die Uhr eine Stunde vor. Obwohl schon einige Blumen blühen fühlt es sich nicht so an als wenn wir in einigen Tagen Frühling haben. Durch den Sturm hier an der Ostküste der USA ist es sehr windig und schneit. Alles Gute.

It is still 9/11 in the United States. Today, on the 20th anniversary, we remember all the people that lost their lives and the heroes that day and the days to follow. Since we usually had our German Heritage Festival around this time, Ted and I always took the entertainers to New York and the World Trade Center. Marianne & Michael with Band was the last group that went up the World Trade Center only 3 days before it came down. This picture was taken from the New Jersey side. We will also remember 9/11 with a special song during the radio show on Sunday morning.

This is a picture from a few years ago, when my son Ralph and I were in Germany. The castle behind us is in Brühl, where Ted and I grew up. Besides the park being totally flooded at least nobody lost their life in Brühl during the terrible flood in Germany. Some places in the area, like along the Ahr, Bad Münstereifel, etc. lost a lot, not only people, but also houses and streets. Hopefully the next rain does not cause more devastation. Good luck to everybody.

Recently we came across an old ticket from the FIFA World Cup in 1994. When Ted, who was a soccer fan, was asked by someone if he would like to fly with him to the opening game on June 17 in Chicago, the person didn't have to ask twice. Germany won that game against Bolivia 1-0. The game Ted, Ralph with friends and I attended at the Giants Stadium in New Jersey Germany lost, but we still have nice memories.
Vor Kurzem haben wir noch eine alte Eintrittskarte von der Fussball Weltmeisterschaft in 1994 gefunden. Ted hatte die Gelegenheit mit einem Bekannten zu dem Eröffnungsspiel Deutschland - Bolivien in Chicago zu fliegen. Das Spiel gewann Deutschland 1-0, doch leider verloren sie das Spiel im Giants Stadium in New Jersey , zu dem viele Personen von dieser Gegend Karten hatten. Es ist trotzdem eine schöne Erinnerung.

This picture goes back quite a few years, but it is already 11 years since Ted left us on May 30, 2010. He spend a lot of time trying to keep our German Heritage alive. RIP.

In Germany they have a 2 day Holiday this weekend. It is Pfingsten (Pentecost). They even have some flowers that are blooming right now named after Pfingsten. They are called Pfingstrosen (translated Pentecostroses).
