MVA & Medi-Vac at Ocean County College

Earlier this morning, Silverton Squad 2913, Pleasant Plains Rescue 3033 and TR Police EMS Med Units responded to a motor vehicle accident at Ocean County College. Due to the severity of the incident, a Medi-Vac was requested. Silverton Engine 2931 and Pleasant Plains Engine 3051 established the landing zone to ensure a safe patient transfer.

It’s not everyday that I can say we accomplished something. But today. Jersey Coast Emergency News followers accomplished something amazing. This afternoon in coordination with The Ashley Lauren Foundation and LFG AUTO, we have successfully raised $18,000 to get the family of Gio a reliable vehicle. Gio’s mother is pregnant with their 4th child and Gio is battling stage 4 Ewing’s sarcoma. They are currently going back and forth to CHOP for treatments. You guys did something incredible and I’m so happy to have the followers I have. Year to date we have given back to more families that I ever thought was possible. Thank you.

The roads are a sheet of ice this morning. Numerous crashes are reported all throughout the state. Including a head on crash with a school bus and van on Perrineville Rd. Near Perrineville Lake in Millstone.

Happy birthday to a beautiful soul! Veteran Joe Placente can be spotted walking down Route 70 and Whitesville Rd in Toms River carrying an American flag. At now 93 years young Mr. Joe still trains for marathons. Every time Mr. Joe walks he carries an American flag in honor of our veterans. Mr. Joe who is a Korean War veteran has walked over 15 states with the flag. He started walking with the flag in 2003 after an American journalist was beheaded in Afghanistan. ”I was really mad. I was too old to go back in the service so I said it’s time to walk with my flag.” Mr. Joe was in the Air Force and worked as a radio operator on B-29 Bombers, and an 85 foot long Crasher.

Joe recently finished six rounds of chemotherapy after finding out he had bladder, and prostate cancer. But, Joe kicked cancers ass and is now training to walk with his flag in the Seaside Heights Semper Five 5K that benefits the Marine Corps.

“I love this country. I love Americans. I will always stand up for this country. We live in the greatest country in the world. I’ve traveled the world and have seen the way others live. We are very fortunate.”

If you see Joe walking the streets in Toms River make sure you beep and say hello!

“The amount of beeps isn’t the same as it used to be. I used to get so many people beeping their horns. It’s not the same anymore. I would love to see more people beep and wave!”

Thank you for your service Mr. Joe! You are an incredible American and patriot. The country needs more people like you.

A very loved and well respected surgeon out of Ocean Medical Center in Brick was killed this morning on his way to work. An eye witness told me that his car just veered right off the road into the trees. I’m withholding his name until family is notified. Please keep the staff at Brick hospital and the surgeons family in your thoughts and prayers.

It’s absolutely refreshing to have a president that wants to reunite the country and tells it like it is.
