Quick short story‼️
The abuse I was exposed to indirectly and/or experienced firsthand caused me to become anxious, depressed, helpless, hopeless, defensive, and other mental health problems! Dance was my saving Grace, my safe place, my place of peace, and now it's my daily dose of keep calm and remember I have God, so I'm not alone. My medicine without the bottle‼️
When I'm dancing I'm calm - I'm not aggressive, angry, or defensive! I'm in a state of euphoria free to be me!
Before music and dancing my Self-Esteem was shot. I was extremely depressed. I stayed on an emotional rollercoaster! I didn't want to bond without anyone, I had so much trust issues and I was in so much pain!
But, with music and dance my social skills improved, my mind is sharper, my mood is regulated, and it eased my depression greatly! I have boundaries and I stand on them! Nothing is more important than my mental health and dancing helped me with that...
There is so much more to this, which is why I need to finish my book. But, I needed to share why I'm not your average Trauma Advocate. Yes, I'm going to Educate, Empower, Encourage, and Advocate, but I'm most definitely going to Entertain. We're most certainly going to use Dance Movement on our Healing Journey‼️ Helping While Healing -RSMorrishaw
