I don’t know about you but I am tired.

Tired of playing the damn game. I am a recovering “game player”.

I loved theater for years.

[FACT: It is WAY BETTER to pretend to be someone else + everyone applauds at the end.]

Because of this [and lots more reasons]--I ended up in therapy. Against my will.

I had gone to fix someone else. Surprise!

For more years than I woud care to admit, I have chased approval, applause, the gold ring.

I have ALL the damn degrees and credentials [blah blah blah]. I have spent countless hours on courses/classes/residencies to gain SOMEONE ELSE’S ...ahem...approval.

Here’s the deal. All of that does not matter if you cannot wake up and look at your life--your REAL LIFE--and accept it as it actually is. Not how you want it to be/or wish it to be.

Just as it is. Because that’s the actual truth.

And the actual truth can be the hardest thing to face, right? Like damn--that’s it.

So they say having two breakdowns in life is rare. Both of mine were necessary and imperfectly timed.

--I am practicing living my very REAL life. I don’t live in the daydream of tomorrow or the shame of yesterday. I practice being HERE. Right here. Right now. In this body. In this moment. In this life.

--I try things. And I fail. Then I try again. Then when it’s time to let whatever it is I’m pursuing go--I let it go.

--I accept that I don’t have control over anyone or anything. And that is my hardest, most painful work.

I practice being a human--a real human. And I’ve realized that maybe other people like me might want to talk about practicing how to be a real human--with a real life--filled with real joys and real struggles. If it sounds like you, click the button. :)
