UPDATE TO STATEWIDE OPEN BURN BAN - On November 1, 2024, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources implemented a Statewide Open Air Burn Ban as they have determined due to the current weather conditions and lack of rainfall the ban will be in place until further notice. The state has not had a significant amount of precipitation since October 2, 2024, and this has left the water tables at a very low levels.

This afternoon Maryland National Weather announced further that the following counties have been issued a RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY NOVEMBER 2, 2024, TO 6 PM EST FRIDAY, The following locations Allegany County, Anne Arundel County, Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Carrol County, Cecil County, Frederick County, Harford County, Howard County, Mongomery County, Prince George’s County and Washington County. – These areas will experience gusty winds and low humidities.

* WINDS...West 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 24 percent.

* IMPACTS...The combination of dry conditions, low humidity, and strong gusty winds may result in favorable conditions for the rapid spread of fires.

* FUEL MOISTURE...Less than 10 percent.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.

The Frederick Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in locating Jose Israel Sorto Ramos, age 25. He is approximately 5'4", 140 pounds, with black hair. Jose was last seen in the area of Aynsley Ct, Frederick on Monday, 11/04 around 4:00 p.m. He was wearing a black hat, black sweatshirt, brown t-shirt, and blue jeans. Jose has a scar on his right hand and a wrap on his left hand from an injury.
