I put a blanket in my lap tonight to read my book and called Otto over to see if he would come over and what he did next was completely unexpected…
He cuddled up on my legs and laid down with me and kept looking back at me with slow blinks 🥹❤️
How old is Otto? The answer is at least 10! This is according to the aging of his lenses based on the feedback from his eye exam visit with Dr. Andrea Minella at @veteyecenternyc 😻
Did you know the fun fact that lenses keep adding layers as cats age?
Otto eats like a little gremlin 😹
Look at those beautiful green eyes 😻
I can’t thank @veteyecenternyc enough for taking the time to thoroughly check and diagnose Otto’s eyes. The new gel drops - Optixcare Dog & Cat Eye Lube Plus Lubricating Gel - have worked wonders in both reducing the amount of tear buildup in the corners of Otto’s eyes and allowed them to open up a bit more and therefore, we can see some more of the beautiful green irises poking out. This clip was BEFORE we cleaned up the eye corner buildup, so you can see how much better it’s looking! So thankful to know there’s nothing more serious behind his issues and to finally see some big progress 🙏❤️
The purr motor is strong in Otto 😻 you can hear it across the room when it gets started
Otto has always made this little noise when we pet him from a sleep or start to pet him when he is awake even if he sees we are there he will jolt a bit since we rescued him. He quickly turns to butter and starts purring once he realizes he is here and safe with us and it’s just a petting he is getting 🥺❤️🩹 it takes patience and time but Otto has warmed up to us so much and it’s amazing to see how much love he has to give. He shows his love for all of us more and more as the days go by 😽
Good morning from Otto who always makes sure to tell me how much he would like breakfast 😹
After all the grooming over the past few days and this afternoon, Otto had to pass a hairball and was so nervous. I held him and rubbed his back until he passed it. He then ran and cowered in his litter box and nervous pooped. The then ran up the couch and pushed himself into the corner of the couch looking terrified.
I have no idea what Otto’s backstory is, but at times like this I know he suffered from abuse at some point. It’s so sad to see these reactions in him when things trigger him like people walking by when he is eating or someone reaching over him to grab something.
All I can do in times like this is support him. I pet him and tell him that everything is okay. This video was shortly after and now he is sleeping with his paw on my hand.
There’s a stigma that abuse makes animals isolate or aggressive. I hope sharing Otto’s story shows that a little bit of love can go a long way for an animal that has suffered abuse. They can still be loving and make amazing companions to those that show them love and give them the chance they deserve. ❤️🙏🐈
Cheers to 2024 ✨ Otto is ringing in the New Year looking dapper in his tux from @noodlesandprune ‘s shop! 🌟
Once I found out that she sells cat clothing to help raise funds for her own cats vet care, I had to pick something up for Otto and well, this tux was perfect for his NYE outfit 🥂🐾✨
