The Ancient Roman aqueduct in modern-day Turkey, dating back thousands of years, is a testament to the incredible engineering and architectural skills of the Roman Empire. These aqueducts were designed to transport fresh water to densely populated areas, and they were a significant improvement over the earlier structures built by civilizations in Egypt and India. The Roman aqueducts were constructed over a period of 500 years, from 312 BC to AD 226, and were funded by both public and private sources. Some of the most famous Roman rulers, such as Augustus, Caligula, and Trajan, commissioned the construction of these aqueducts.

Polychrome glass vessel in the form of a "bulti"-fish: this is the most spectacular of a small group offish-form vessels, all representing the "bulti"-fish common in the Nile and a standard feature of Egyptian decorative art. The body is core-built in blue glass, matt finish, and is decorated with simple festoons in groups of three or four white lines followed by a yellow line. The tail decorations are in the same colours. The dorsal fin is composed of a series of heavy threads in the body blue, white, yellow, and turquoise-blue. The front fins are each composed of one light and one darker blue thread. The front ventral fins are made from one white and one yellow thread each while the rear ventral fin is of turquoise-blue glass. A yellow thread outlines the mouth. The eyes are white opaque circles with the pupils represented by black thread loops. The fish is assembled from several fragments.

Excavated/Findspot: Amarna, el-

This vessel was found in a medium-sized private house at El-Amarna, found buried under a plaster floor together with two glass jugs and some metal objects.

Fish-form vessels were common in many media at this time - the glass examples are but versions of others - but how they were used is not evident. They seem to have been ointment vessels and must have been furnished with stands as they are incapable of standing by themselves.

Pendants of Queen Ahhotep, New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty

These pendants were found in the queenโ€™s tomb in Dra" Abu el-Naga in western Thebes together with many other pieces of jewellery. The small rosettes with petals of turquoise, lapis lazuli and carnelian probably decorated a tissue, while the drop-shaped pendants and circular pendants with amethysts were parts of collars.

Roman Army Knife (201-300 AD); has a spoon, knife, fork, spike, spatula and pick allowing the user to even clean between their teeth after eating. It was part of the equipment of Roman legions.

This folding eating gadget has a three-pronged fork, a spoon,a spatula,a pick, a spike and an iron knife that has eroded away. There is a hinge to allow each item to be folded out when it was needed, or folded away for ease of transporting it.

The spike might of helped in extracting the meat from snails, and the spatula in scraping sauce out of narrow-necked bottles. Some have even suggested the pick with the tiny spoon on the end could have been used to remove earwax.
