Perfect place for a evening reception is on a farm! 😁🚜🥬

The American River Ranch, a 55-acre historic ranch and the permanent home of Soil Born Farms, was everything I expected it to be.

It provides a wonderfully diverse landscape to engage both youth and adults in hands-on activities that educate and connect them with the natural world, healthy food, healthy eating, job and life skills, hard work, and service opportunities. The American River Ranch also provides the opportunity to expand the production of vegetables and fruit to meet the needs of more Sacramento residents, particularly those in underserved neighborhoods with little or no access to fresh, nutritious food.

Although, I was attending a reception I spent most of my time touring the property and learning gardening tips to go back home and implement in my garden.

Florida League of Cities Conference (FLC) is in full effect. Today's keynote speakers Margaret Hoover Host PBS host of "Firing Line with Margaret Hoover" and John Avlon senior political analyst and CNN anchor gave insight to the history of politics and how we can learn from our past and impact our future.

NLC's CEO & Executive Director Clarence Anthony along with President Victoria Woodards Mayor of Tacoma, WA spoke about the amazing partnership NLC has with FLC, without it, we wouldn't be able to help shape ENDLESS possibilities for ALL people in our communities.

What an experience sliding through 2300 acres of the beautiful countryside of Campo Rico. Pulled up on the house used in movies such as Bad Boys 2 & Narcos, had to slow up for an iguana crossing the path, and the best thing about it all...... We had a BossBabe leading the pack in Nike slides might I add.

The City of Sumner was all love! Mayor Kathy Haygen welcomed us for lunch at Hometown Cafe & let me tell you lunch was bomb! We toured the city, learned best practices & discussed collaborations. Plus we celebrated Mayor Mary Dennis from Live Oak, TX birthday. She had no idea I put together a little surprise bday gathering and we all tried their world famous rhubarb pie 😉 😜

If you didn't know now you know....I love me a good ol museum! With a little downtime during this week's conference I was able to vist the Birmingham Museum of Art.

One of the finest regional museums in the United States, it houses a diverse collection of more than 24,000 paintings, sculptures, prints, drawings, and decorative arts representing various cultures, including Asian, European, American, African, Pre-Columbian, and Native American.

I've heard from local leaders of the many cities & towns that represent North Carolina & through the collective efforts of NCLM & The National League of Cities, leaders will be better equipped to serve their residents and improve quality of life!

Listen y'all!!!! This book was a great READ!!!The author Russ art of not giving a Fu*k allowed him to write such an eye opening book. The stories shared were so relatable and gave a great perspective into how many of us think. Add "The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fu*k", to you 2022 book list. Listen to my full review below.

March's book to read was fun with a shot of reality. Literally no chaser just straight with delivery. "It's All In Your Head" by Russ is all about getting out of your own way and going after your dreams. You are your biggest worst enemy and this book is the wake up call you need to make sh*t happen. . Our April read is "The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck" by Mark Manson is a counterintuitive approach to living a good life. . I'm starting now but you're more than welcome to kick start in April!

February's book of the month was filled with a lot of inspiration and grit. Arlan's journey to creating a venture capital company is a true story of an unestimated black women, not to mention she's gay, no degree and self taught but trying to make it in Silicone Valley. .
