2 Unlimited, a Belgian-Dutch dance music group, was formed in 1991 by Belgian producers Jean-Paul De Coster and Phil Wilde in Antwerp. The duo achieved global success, particularly between 1991 and 1996, with Dutch rapper Ray Slijngaard and vocalist Anita Doth leading the act. Known for their energetic dance anthems, 2 Unlimited scored 16 international hits, including "Get Ready for This," "Twilight Zone," "No Limit," and "Tribal Dance," selling over 18 million records worldwide. They became prominent in the European music scene and were recognized in American sports, notably in NBA and NHL broadcasts.❤️🖤🎼🎶
Their breakthrough single, "Get Ready for This," released in 1991, set the stage for their success, followed by the chart-topping No Limits! album in 1993. Despite facing criticism from the British press, 2 Unlimited’s hits dominated charts across Europe, earning platinum certifications and widespread acclaim.
Following several years of success, internal conflicts led to the departure of Slijngaard and Doth in 1996. In 1998, De Coster and Wilde relaunched 2 Unlimited with new members, but the project did not recapture its former popularity. After years of hiatus, the original duo reunited in 2012 and performed several live shows. In 2016, Doth left again, and Kim Vergouwen replaced her, continuing the group's legacy with new performances and remixes. 2 Unlimited’s energetic sound and cultural impact remain influential in the dance music world.
