Feel Good Tacoma

Feel Good Tacoma be positive. stay motivated. feel good. Feel Good Tacoma started as an outlet to push my personal need for positivity in my own life. From that, it grew.

It evolved into a mission to prove a point. That you can live your life, be a positive, polite, and helpful person and become successful, or continue to be successful. Feel Good Tacoma is moving into a new era and a place that I personally love to be. Feel Good Tacoma is here to push the Positivity Agenda, to build communities online and IRL, and to motivate and reinforce the good we see around us

. We can be a little preachy, and sometimes clever, but are always in it for the good of everyone. And remember...

You could go around all day being rude or kind, intolerant or accepting, hateful or loving. It takes no more energy to be a good person than it does to be an as***le. Remember that.

Everyone has their bad days and should be afforded the grace to move through them, but when the bad days become who you are, it is time for some self-reflection to figure out why you are lashing out and acting out.

Be good to each other. Positive vibes are headed your way.

And remember...

There are some days when you just can't go for it like you normally do. Maybe you're stressed out, or you're getting sick, or exhausted from your busy life.

It's ok. It happens.

You don't need to be a star all of the time, in fact, we prefer that you aren't (it makes our day a bit easier if you know what I mean). Taking time to slow down and recover from what happens in life is not only acceptable, it's highly encouraged.

Take the time for yourself and be today's version of 100% - you might not be as great as you're used to being, but, we still think that you're pretty awesome. 💜

Bankrate names Tacoma the 3rd Best City to move to and live in.

Well look at that... I still think that it's number 1, but the recognition for the city is awesome! Thanks KING 5 for the article.

We all experience moments when anger overwhelms us, when frustration takes control. It's a natural human emotion, but it's important to remember that holding onto anger only harms you in the long run.

Instead of bottling up those fiery emotions, I've come to realize the incredible power of letting go. When we release anger and choose forgiveness, we open ourselves to a world of peace, growth, and freedom.

Think about it: harboring anger consumes our energy and clouds our judgment. It traps us in a cycle of negativity, preventing us from fully embracing happiness and positivity.

But when we choose to let go, we reclaim our power and take control of our emotions. We free ourselves from the burden of resentment, making room for healing, understanding, and personal growth.

It's not easy to try new things. Moving out of our comfort zone can be one of the hardest things in life... Can I do it? Will it work? Should I? These are all questions of self-doubt that we must cast aside for our own growth and ultimately, our happiness.

What is something new that you've tried lately?

Kindness is the ability and desire to have a positive impact on others.

What does this mean? It means kindness does not happen by accident. Everyday, people choose to be kind to each other or they choose not to be. It's a choice. Today, and everyday after, I choose to be kind to you and your family and your friends and your acquaintances and your perfect strangers who are all of my perfect strangers. Why? because I have both the ability to be kind, but I also want to be kind.

Which do you choose?

Did you know....

Tacoma is the 3rd largest city in Washington.

The population of men is slightly larger than that of women, with 50.4% identifying as male. 12.5% of Tacomans were born abroad and almost 91% of adults over 25 have graduated high school which I'm sure helps to bolster the median household income of $69,956/yr.

All this beautiful data brought to you by the 2020 Census.

When day comes we step out of the shade
Aflame and unafraid
The new dawn blooms as we free it
For there is always light
If only we're brave enough to see it
If only we're brave enough to be it.

— Amanda Gorman, National Youth Poet Laureate, Poet, Activist

Juneteenth, originally Jubilee Day in Texas, commemorates the day that Major General Gordon Granger proclaimed freedom for enslaved people in that state and was designated a Federal Holiday by Congress in 2021.

Happy Earth Day to everyone! I hope that today, of all days, we each remember to act in some way that is beneficial to our planet. No matter what that act is (recycling, using paper instead of plastic, limiting water usage, etc.), we can have an impact.

Please take a look at the Learn About Earth Day image, you could just be surprised. You can also head over to earthday.org to see how you can help.

So, you can be creative or be a creative. Which are you? Which would you like to be? No matter which way you answered that question, it's not difficult to be creative. You may just be a bit out of practice.

Remember, when you were younger and how your imagination would run wild. So much awe and enthusiasm and wonderment... dig deep inside and tap into that. You may not be coloring a picture in hopes of making the fridge, but you can be just as creative at work or in your personal life or anywhere in between.

If you have a problem that needs solving, look at it from an outsiders perspective to see it from a new angle. Ask a friend for help if you're having trouble seeing it clearly from both sides. Think outside of the box, outside of yourself, to find creative solutions when challenges pop up and you might just be surprised at how easy it is and how well you do as a result.

Happy St Patrick's Day, everyone!

Are you wearing your green today? I'm not! I laugh in the face of danger, and also I don't own anything green.

For those enjoying festivities tonight, please don't drink and drive. Get an Uber. Get a Lyft. Call a Taxi. Text a friend. Walk home. There are other options. Don't drink and drive and don't let your friends do it, either.

Have fun! Cheers!

Did you know that Tacoma has sister cities? Fourteen of them actually.

In 1956, Sister Cities International, a program started at the request of then President Eisenhower, was created with the purpose of placing national focus on affiliations between US cities and cities from other nations. The goal of the Sister City program was to "promote deeper cultural understanding, international visitation and hospitality that leads to long lasting relationships."

Today, the mission of Sister Cities Council of Tacoma is to "promote peace through people by citizen diplomacy, cultural education and economic development." But how do they do this? They connect and educate with programs like the Tacoma Sister Cities International Film Festival which showcases films brought to you from each of the sister cities annually. This isn't a new either, having just held their 20th festival in 2022, thanks to a partnership with the Blue Mouse Theatre.

That's just one way that the Sister Cities program works towards their mission. To learn more about their other programs or get involved, you can go to tacomasistercities.org - and of course, the Sister Cities Council of Tacoma is a 501c(3) non-profit.

As true today as it was when he first spoke the words.

It's important to remember that the guy in the office at the end of the hall, he's human. The kid in line behind you screaming at the grocery store, they're human, just like their frazzled mom... she is, in fact, human too.

We're all here together, each with our own story to tell and dream to reach for. Our own nightmare to avoid with demons to fight. We were someone's child and are or might be someone's parent. Hopes and fears, sacrifices and successes, we all have them or have made them.

We're in this thing called life together, be kind to each other. Don't laugh at someone as they stumble - remember that you have also stumbled.

Be the hand that reaches out from the laughter of others to help someone rise again.

You made it through another week, Happy Saturday! Have a GREAT WEEKEND, everyone!

Take some time out this weekend to practice some self-care. Read your favorite trash novel, spend a couple (more) hours on YouTube, eat that bowl of ice cream or have that second cookie, go for a jog around the block, spend time with your boo or just by yourself.

Whatever you need to do to keep you in top form, do it. We support you!

DID YOU KNOW...

On May 1st, 1911, Tacoma's Union Station opened to the public. It was design by the architectural firm of Reed and Stem, who just five years prior designed King Street Station in Seattle.

Two years after Union Station opened, Reed and Stem went on to design New York's famous Grand Central Station.

Union Station ran passenger train services from its opening until June 14th, 1984, when Amtrak moved services to it's new terminus located next to Freighthouse Square on Puyallup Ave.

After being abandoned for three years, the US General Services Administration (GSA) won Congressional approval to lease Union Station for 30 years. In 1992, after three full years or renovation and restoration, and a three-story addition, the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington began operating in the building.

On August 10th, 2022, the GSA was transferred ownership of Union Station for $1, after exercising an option from the 30-year lease.

Isn't history fun?!
