In the vibrant and growing section of downtown Charleston along the north Morrison Drive corridor (affectionately referred to NoMo), new industrial-inspired development stands as a testament to forward-thinking design. The flagship building in this waterfront neighborhood at the footsteps of the picturesque Ravenel Bridge is Morrison Yard. Connected to the historic downtown area, a short drive to residential communities east of the Cooper, and 11 miles from the Charleston International airport, Morrison Yard offers action and access.
Among the growing tenant directory is the Parker Poe law firm. Seeing the opportunity for increased collaboration in this mixed-use development, Parker Poe started their relocation process several years ago and was one of the community’s first tenants into the space in Spring 2023. “Our new space is state-of-the art and reflects our commitment to serving our clients and the Charleston community for years to come,” said Robert Jordan, a partner who leads the firm’s Charleston office. “We are excited to be part of the emerging Morrison business corridor and believe our clients and employees will really enjoy the convenience, functionality and beauty of our new office.”
The industrial feel of the building aligns with the character of the neighborhood, reflecting the lively nature of the growing community. Open beams, exposed ductwork, and brick accents contribute to the modern design, creating an atmosphere that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Natural light is prioritized through big windows to pour into interior offices and collaborative spaces. With offices in multiple locations outside the Charleston region, including Greenville, Spartanburg, Charlotte, Columbia, DC, and Atlanta, the workspace is strategically designed to accommodate the collaborative needs of clients and team members who work across office lines.
A key feature of the new space is its flexibility in function. The main conference room can be divided into three soundproof sections, offering the versatility to host events or accommodate partners working together. The uniform size of offices promotes a good flow to the space, while additional breakout rooms cater to various work styles and needs. As a full-service law office handling everything from litigation to corporate work, the Morrison Yard office is tailored to meet the diverse needs of the team. From a functional break room that encourages gathering to private deposition rooms with back entrances for client privacy, every aspect of the office is designed with collaboration and client satisfaction in mind.
The building is certified by Fitwell, which was originally created in part by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Its certification process evaluates various areas that research has shown contribute to health and well-being. Outside, a large, covered deck overlooking the marsh provides a tranquil space for lunch, while the courtyard below offers laptop stands for alternative workspaces. Several EV charging stations are available in the adjoining garage and bike racks promote connectivity to the outdoors and a sustainable lifestyle. In addition, Morrison Yard will be one of the first recipients of the Charleston RISES certification, which promotes water and energy efficiency.
New spaces are not just about aesthetics; they foster a sense of growth and creativity, contributing to the overall success and satisfaction of team members. The workspace is not just a place of business but a hub of community activity. Parker Poe is shaping the future of work for the region and contributing to the overall vibrancy of the NoMo neighborhood. And did I mention the View?

By: Battery Media
It’s here, this is the end. The Charleston Battery are set to host Phoenix Rising FC in the USL Championship Final on Sun., Nov. 12. Kickoff at Patriots Point is 7 pm.

The Final is a rematch of the opening game of the season, when the Battery played Rising FC to a 1-1 draw at Patriots Point on March 11.
Charleston, four-time league winners, will be vying for their fifth league title in the club’s 31-season history. Phoenix, on the other hand, are three-time Western Conference champions and will be looking for their first league crown.
No. 3 Charleston’s path to the Final came via three home wins: over Indy Eleven (5-0), Birmingham Legion FC (2-1) and Louisville City FC (2-1). The Battery knocked out defending Eastern Conference champions Louisville to reach the Final for the first time since 2012. Arturo Rodriguez and Augi Williams (PK) scored to see the Battery through.
No. 6 Phoenix went on a demolition tour of California to reach the Final: defeating San Diego Loyal SC (3-4), Orange County SC (1-2) and Sacramento Republic FC (1-2) all away from home. Phoenix had the Sacramento fans believing this was the end for them through 80 minutes until a Republic FC own goal and an Emil Cuella stoppage-time winner turned the tables at the very end.
Leland Archer is a player to watch for the Battery. The skipper has been a key component to the Battery’s defensive renaissance and leads the team with 153 clearances (third-most in the league) and 17 blocks.
Danny Trejo is one to keep an eye on for Rising FC. Trejo, an All-League First Team selection and USLC Player of the Year finalist, has been leading Phoenix’s potent offense with a team-high 19 goals and seven assists in league play.
Both Charleston and Phoenix’s turnaround stories are similar as the sides ascended to the Final after missing out on the postseason last year. They are the third and fourth teams in league history to accomplish the feat.
In addition to the Battery looking to win their fifth league title, Sunday’s Final is the fifth championship match played in the Lowcountry; the 1996, 2003, 2010 and 2012 titles were all in Charleston.
The Final will also feature former Phoenix players Arturo Rodriguez and AJ Cochran going up against their old club for the Battery.
Sunday’s Final will be played in front of a sold-out crowd at Patriots Point. Fans not in attendance can catch the game via national broadcasts on ESPN2, ESPN Deportes and SiriusXM FC (Ch. 157).

The South Carolina Stingrays (1-2-0-0) fell to the Newfoundland Growlers (4-1-0-0) by a final score of 5-3 on Saturday afternoon at Mary Brown’s Centre. The Stingrays held a 3-2 lead after two periods but gave up three goals in the final frame. Jarid Lukosevicius had a goal, an assist, and a fight for South Carolina. Goaltender Garin Bjorklund made 23 saves for the Stingrays.
Tate Singleton opened the scoring for the Growlers 7:14 into the first period when he knocked in a loose puck in front of the net. Three minutes later, the Stingrays tied it up with a shorthanded goal. Lukosevicius stole the puck along the right wing boards and chipped the puck to himself. He broke away behind the defense and roofed the puck over the glove of Newfoundland goaltender Dryden McKay. Tyson Empey put the Stingrays up 2-1 with a wrist shot from the right circle 17:28 into the first period. The goal was Empey’s first of the season.
4:32 into the second period, Newfoundland forward Adam Dawe tied the game at two when a loose puck bounced to him in the slot. South Carolina regained the lead 16:47 into the middle frame when fourth-year defenseman Connor Moore scored his first goal of the season. Stingrays forward Jack Adams fed the puck from behind the net to Moore, who one-timed it past McKay from the right circle.
The Stingrays held the lead until 12:56 into the third period. The Growlers cashed in on their fourth power play of the game when Newfoundland defenseman Jacob Modry scored on a wrist shot from the high slot.
Newfoundland pulled ahead with 1:23 to go in the game when forward Grant Cruikshank located a rolling puck in front of the net and backhanded it past Bjorklund. Cruikshank added an empty net goal to make it a 5-3 final.
The Stingrays return to action tomorrow afternoon against the Growlers. Puck drop is set for 2:30 pm at Mary Brown’s Centre.

Press Release
High Tide is thrilled to announce its third year hosting High Tide Music & Arts Festival that will take place the weekend of Saturday, June 1, 2024 at beautiful Riverfront Park in North Charleston.
The adults-only (21+) event is a boutique music and lifestyle experience curated around Charleston’s high-end lifestyle with the beauty of the Lowcountry as its backdrop. The one-day festival will feature two stages with over 25 DJs, including international headliners and some of the region’s best underground and emerging acts. High Tide will also host a full itinerary of events throughout the weekend, so attendees can experience the best Charleston has to offer, day and night, land and sea.
The festival is curated for stylish young professionals to experience the best of what Charleston culture has to offer in music, arts, fashion and culinary scenes. High Tide’s mission is to produce events where attendees make meaningful memories with their friends that last a lifetime. The organizers, a team of experienced event producers and music lovers from across the Carolinas, look forward to creating a home for High Tide in Charleston for years to come.
“The feedback has been overwhelmingly supportive,” Co-Founder Edward Holt notes. “We are as independent of a music festival as you can get and to see how far we have come with Charleston is really awesome to see. We have taken the last six months going over the data through our partnership with the College of Charleston and we think year three is going to be the year that sets us apart and solidifies us as one of the premiere events of the city. Between the artists we are booking to the satellite events around the city; this year will be much much bigger.”
While the music will take center stage, the High Tide City Market and the curated Food & Beverage Garden will feature a collection of regional artisans, fashion designers, jewelry makers, chefs, live muralists, photo backdrops, interactive activities, and much more for all guests to explore.
VIP guests will have front row access to the main stage, private bars, and luxe restrooms, plus other perks. Super VIP guests will enjoy an exclusive, shaded, raised lounge area featuring private table service, a locally-curated, top-shelf beverage garden, along with additional amenities.
With coastal Carolina as the backdrop and close to the heart of the High Tide team, High Tide will keep sustainability at the forefront of all festival operations and activities. This includes onsite programs, strategic partnerships, and initiatives with like-minded organizations to ensure the festival and its attendees are doing all they can to protect the natural landscape and reduce the event’s environmental footprint. High Tide is aiming to be plastic-free and carbon-neutral, with a focus on recyclables and compostables, setting it apart from other live events.
“Edward and I grew up in and around the water so keeping the ocean and waterways clean has been at the heart of what we do” Co-Founder Nick Randise remarks. “We have exceeded our sustainability goals each year through the very best in strategic partners. In 2023 we diverted over 5,000 pounds from the local landfill and moved completely away from single use plastics by replacing them with compostable options. We are striving to prove that any event no matter how small can make an enormous impact in their communities.”
Fans interested in securing their ticket to High Tide can sign up for exclusive presale access now by visiting hightidefestival.com. Presale tickets start at $69 or payment plans for just $20 down and will be available on Tuesday November 7th at 10am For those who wait and miss out on presale access, the remaining tickets will be available in December.

Press Release
Costa*, an elegant ode to the Mediterranean shores of Italy, will open its doors in downtown Charleston next Thursday, November 16th, with an innovative approach to coastal Italian cuisine, from Easton Porter Group – the family-owned boutique hospitality group behind beloved Charleston spots like Zero George, Cannon Green and Wild Common.

Costa* encompasses coastal Italian fare from Liguria to Amalfi and down to Sicily, with inventive global compositions and seasonal hints from the diverse regions – featuring fantasy dishes like handmade pasta and proteins like seafood, classic beef and pork. The experienced service teams, led by Chef Vinson Petrillo of The Restuarant at Zero George, are excited to deliver personally crafted dining experiences with technical expertise and whimsical nostalgia. Complementing the fresh and bold fare, the beverage program – designed by Easton Porter Group regional restaurant director Megan Mina – stars craft cocktails, bubbling apertivi and globally sourced wines.

“Costa* Restaurant & Bar is a vibrant testament to the fusion of coastal Italian culinary artistry – a seafood haven where the colors of the sea come alive in the design, decor and on the plates,” said Easton Porter Group Founders ~ Lynn Easton & Dean Porter Andrews ” We invites guests to savor and share delectable seafood, our handmade pastas, and specialty meat dishes. We and our teams are thrilled to bring this unique epicurean experience to the heart of Charleston.”

FROM ITALIAN COASTS TO COSTA*

Chef Vinson has previously led some of New York’s finest restaurants – from Caviar Russe to Abe & Arthur’s, and Prospect, a Michelin Bib Gourmand recipient. Costa* will feature artfully crafted dishes like pecorino ravioli, Wagyu beef cheek tortellini with braised octopus, and Carabinero shrimp. With Charleston’s rich bounty of fresh seafood, local flavors are imparted in a raw bar, along with dishes like the raw red shrimp with Meyer lemon sorbet and Neonata shiso.

His dishes are drawn from his own Italian family’s traditions. The menu is meant to be shared among friends and family, both new and old. “Like clockwork, our family gathered around the table every Sunday for an Italian dinner. We’d all contribute to the meal, putting out dozens of dishes, sharing plates, and enjoying each other’s company. It was a special experience I look back on fondly, and I’m eager to offer our guests an environment as much as a meal meant to be savored,” says Chef Vinson.

IN VINO VERITAS

Costa*’s curated beverage menu features a diverse wine list with over 350 bottles, including rare boutique varietals from regions across the globe, like Cerbaiona, Giuseppe Quintarelli and Bartolo Mascarello. Inspired by a love for the diversity of Italy’s wine regions and beyond, the wine program will focus on producers who prioritize thoughtful farming practices and intentional vinification.
The cocktail menu comprises apéritivi and digestivi influenced by Italian culture and a comprehensive roster of spritzes, each reminiscent of an Italian beach day. The spirits menu will highlight small producers who forage herbs, citrus and other ingredients carefully and handcraft their infusions and distillations. Traditional Italian spirits – aperitivi, vermouth, gin, amari and others – will complement seasonal and signature cocktails. Guests can also expect unique presentations such as a tableside amaro cart, showcasing the restaurant’s extensive selection of Amari that will elevate the after-dinner experience. The beverage menus are curated by Mina, drawing on several years of expertise leading Easton Porter Group’s wine and bar programs.

WHERE CAPRI MEETS CAROLINA

Easton Porter Group partnered with New York-based and James Beard Award restaurant architecture and design company Glen & Co. to create an interior that encapsulates sprezzatura, the studied practice of grace with ease. The ambiance remains light, breezy, and touched with whimsy, with floor-to-ceiling windows illuminating the natural, rich wood and pearlescent tile textures. The open kitchen concept transforms the dining room into a theater, with diners actively viewing the culinary artistry. Costa*’s serene interiors are accented by waterfront views of the Ashley River in Charleston’s iconic Harleston Village neighborhood.

Costa* is located at 320 Broad Street on the ground floor of The Jasper, the 12-story landmark luxury residence developed by The Beach Company. Costa* is the second of Easton Porter Group’s concepts to join The Jasper, accompanying Alcove Market, an upscale café, which opened next door earlier this year. Costa* will be open for dinner Tuesday – Saturday, and reservations can be made via Resy.
