On 07/24/2018 at approximately 6:30 pm, Stockton CHP received a 911 call from a victim of a freeway shooting, that occurred on SB SR-99 at Peltier Road. The victim was driving a semi-truck combination with dual bottom dump trailers, when he heard “popping” noises hitting his driver side door and mirror. He then observed a white Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck with a diamond plate tool box in the bed of the truck, next to his vehicle. He observed a passenger in the front seat laughing, and then observed the male driver looking up at him smiling, pointing a black pistol, and flipping him off. The victim described the black pistol as possibly being a BB/airsoft pistol. The suspect vehicle then sped off, again flipping the victim off. The victim was able to obtain a rear plate of the suspect vehicle. The victim responded to the Stockton area office, where Officer French and Officer Cooper observed multiple dents/paint chipped on the driver door and his driver mirror chipped/cracked from the projectiles shot at his vehicle. Follow up was conducted immediately after the incident with the assistance of CHP Valley ISU units, but were unsuccessful on locating the suspect vehicle that evening. The victim was able to give a description of the suspect/driver and a photo lineup was presented to the victim later that evening. The victim positively identified the shooter/driver of the white Chevrolet pickup truck. A records check was conducted on the suspect which revealed he had 3 outstanding arrest warrants, and was on felony probation. On 07/25/2018 at approximately 7:30 am, CHP Valley ISU unit located the suspect vehicle in Valley Springs, CA. A probation search was conducted at the residence, and the suspect/driver was taken into custody. A search of the vehicle was conducted, and the pistol was located inside the suspect vehicle. The pistol was found to be a BB gun and other related evidence was recovered during the search. The suspect, Anthony Flores Jr, 07/08/1973, was then booked into the San Joaquin County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon and outstanding warrants.
