It’s funny how I had been looking forward to my 25th birthday for a long time now and I don’t have s**t to say today🥺

All I can say is, I’m grateful:

For sound health, for career growth, for family, for friends, for love, for money😂, for peace, for everything good that has happened to me in the past 25 years.

Oh, I’m grateful for the bad too😊 Because every bad thing I’ve experienced in this my young life has shaped me into the beautiful and strong woman I am today.

I’m so excited about the future because I know it’s all going to be good from here.

One thing I’ve noticed about African Mothers is; the farther you stay from them, the more they cherish you. I’m a bit closer to my mum now because my room is next to hers but I decided to stay in my room throughout today.

I don’t know if it was boredom or too much money but she called me on my phone and asked if I wanted to go out to eat barbecue fish. I guess I will be staying in my room more because I might just get a call asking to go to Dubai. Can somebody shout “What God cannot do doesn’t exist!”?

I had a good time where we went and I cannot believe that ordinary Smirnoff Ice turned my eyes. Nobody can tell me that Smirnoff Ice is still 5% alcohol because the way it affected me ehn, Vodka sef no fit try am.

To my surprise, it wasn’t my mum that woke me up today. It was my brother’s cat that did. The annoying cat that I love by day when it is not following me to the kitchen, and hate by night, tore my net and jumped into my room at exactly 5:20am. Imagine waking up to see a cat by your window🤦🏾‍♀️😪

I used the same energy the cat used to jump into my room to go and wake my brother up because I couldn’t suffer alone😊

By the time my mother started her morning routine I was fully awake and was able to block her voice out. Fortunately for me, she went out very early and didn’t disturb me. When she got back my brother volunteered to cook and I just worked and ate all day.

Did I tell you guys that my brother is a good cook? I hope he takes my advice and starts selling food.

At one point, I went to my mum’s room to gist her and while standing in front of her mirror and checking herself out she said to me, “I’m in a meeting”. Kemi 1:0 Tabitha

I needed no alarm to wake me up today because my mum wakes up early and she makes sure to wake everybody up by using her soprano voice to call my brother from her room. I really don’t know why she won’t use her phone🤦🏾‍♀️ After giving my brother instructions she came to the back of my room and started her morning walk. You know how people either walk on the street or go to the gym for their workout? Not Kemi Oyewole! My mum just paces back and forth behind my room and calls it a workout. I had to wake up by force because she kept shouting my name to ask for the time. I’m definitely sending her to the gym next month.

Before I knew it, she was already shouting my name for food. I didn’t have much to do at work today so I decided to make breakfast for the house and told her not to disturb me after the breakfast.

Besides the fact that she made me spend 200k that I didn’t budget (Well, I needed what I bought but I could have bought it cheaper or bought a used one), my first day in the house was A-OK. I’m looking forward to day 2😊

I decided to move back home because adulthood has dealt with me and I just want to run away from everything and resume next year.

So, I’m starting a series titled “Living with my single African mother as an adult”.

The good part about living with my mum is that I get to be with my family, eat the best meals and spend less. The bad: my mum is going to wake me up at awkward times to gist. Staying away from home didn’t stop her so why should a few steps stop her?

I will also get frustrated on several occasions because she doesn’t understand how the remote life works. I keep telling her that the fact that I’m watching TV doesn’t mean I’ve not written 2 articles in my head. I can’t wait to start this series and gist you all about my sweet mother sha.

I have a habit of bringing the emotions from my imaginations to life. Let's say I imagine myself writing a book, becoming popular and getting a lot of applause from people. If I'm laughing or blushing in the imagination, I somehow laugh or blush in real life.

The annoying thing is, I bring the sad emotions into reality too. Say I create a scenario where I'm “served breakfast” and I'm crying in the imagination, all of a sudden, I start crying in real life too. Serious tears o, then I won't know how to explain to people that I actually imagined the scenario that is making me cry and it's all in my head.

Please tell me I’m not the only one that does this😪😂

I have a confession!!!

I’ve not told anybody this but I really miss my long hair. This is the first time I’m regretting cutting my hair and I guess this is the last time I’m doing it.

I just hope the hair doesn’t vex and decide not to be as long and full as it used to be.

As usual, I wrote this a few months ago and didn’t post it because I didn’t think people would understand.

I will sha explain what it means👇🏾

I’ve met women who know in their hearts, and have seen signs that their husbands are cheating but they decide to look away.

I don’t know how they do it and I can’t say “it can never be me” because it can be me too.

These women believe that as long as the man is taking care of the family, they don’t care. After all, “all men cheat”.

I don’t know how this marriage of a thing works but I am dipping my husband in the blood of Jesus from now…

I woke up frustrated today because my sleep was disturbed by thoughts of all the articles I had to submit before nightfall. Then I got thinking. Isn't it Saturday anymore??? Saturdays used to be fun days, the best day of the week. It was a day I looked forward to as a kid. Saturdays are supposed to be for resting or bonding with your friends and family.
