Louis, Robin Lee has aspired for greatness. Even then, at an early age she knew she “always wanted to be a star.” Whether it was playing on the basketball team, or her rise to class President, Robin was destined for higher heights. That was just the beginning, but it sure was a great start. Ironically, most of her classmates went on to attend Beaumont High School. Even then, she kept her eye on th
e prize. Instead, she opted to attend cross town rival Sumner High School. It was there as a BULLDOG, she developed and nurtured her god given gifts. She became Captain of Sumner’s nationally recognized majorette team. Her leadership skills became just one of her many features that added to her rising popularity. During her four years at Sumner, Robin became one the most influential students in the school. Upon graduating, she then realized she could take her gifts and share them with the world. She became a leader in the community and a pioneer. Martin Mathews, co-founder of the Mathews-Dickey Boys Club appointed her Chairperson of their Committee of 100 Women organization. Her hard work and influence in that position contributed to the historical decision to forever change the name of that organization, thus becoming the boys and GIRLS club. The enterprising spirit that Robin developed over those many years of work and public service set her sights on even greater horizons. As the mom of two boys, Greg and Robbie, she uniquely formed her own company. RGR Enterprises, an acronym formed by using the first letter in each of their names. Her company, a special events, fundraising and community outreach concept, was innovative and instrumental in helping others start their own fundraising companies. A concept that was adopted by many others in the following years. In 1992, she took a much needed break from her busy schedule. Robin went on a cruise to Jamaica. Being the entrepreneur that she is, thought ,“how can I help others enjoy this life.” It was the birth of her second company, The Traveling Dream Team Vacation Club, which then led to owning
Her own travel agency of the same name The Traveling Dream Team “Where Dreams Become Reality”. With the success and prosperity from those ventures she now had both the capital and the social connections to offer her services to many notable celebrities and people around St. She started managing high profile people in the community. Her client list includes, Lou Thimes, Jr. aka The Real J.R.,one of St. Louis’s most popular radio personalities. Others included, Don Clark, a former news anchor. Her biggest reward came in becoming the official manager for legendary radio pioneer Lou “Fatha” Thimes. Other stars were quickly added to her roster. Her talents and skills were utilized by the late jazz diva Mae Wheeler and R&B legend David Peaston. Many national artists also benefited from her services including, the late great Gerald Levert and funny man Michael Colyar. Robin has even had to host or M.C. a Show or two herself. Her onstage skills were inevitable, given her exposure to so many stars. She also briefly wrote about those experiences and the STL travel society in the St. Louis American newspaper through her own weekly column simply entitled “Robins Nest.”
Through the years Robin has helped and served so many people. Perhaps one of highlights in her career has been the help and co-management of her own niece, national singing sensation Ms. Montina Cooper, who has handled the background vocals for Mary J.Blige and for the 10 years singing with superstar Beyonce. Robin has now emerged in St. Louis as “BUBBLING BROWN SUGAR.” That’s not just her social tag, it’s actually the name of the company she’s maintained over the past two decades…BUBBLING BROWN SUGAR PRODUCTIONS has branded itself all over St. Louis on television, radio and even print media. She can be seen on TV commercials and in the newspaper as an official spokesperson for the Newstart Weight Loss Centers.
