In light of DOGE and all of the the flagrant taxpayer money that has been spent over the the last 4 years, if you feel the need to get some DOGE type answers as to why the DVFSSD has quadrupled the price of fire protection and emergency medical care, this (below) would be a good place to start.
The other communities on Highway 18 have refused to cover the costs created by the Dammeron Valley Fire Special Service District board, fellow neighbors. So, the DVFSSD placed the burden squarely on the shoulders of one community amongst about five communities.
Here is the information for you from one of your many concerned neighbors:

"The State Auditors office has authority to audit special service districts, including fire districts. If homeowners intend to ... discuss how to approach this outrageous budget and spending by the DVF SSD, I recommend they contact the state auditor's office. I will be doing so tomorrow, but the more homeowners who do so, the more likely the state will act."

Veyo bridge closure on SR-18. Due to some cracking found on the plates used to retro fit the bridge, the bridge will be CLOSED from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, (Feb. 8th and 9th.)

The bridge will also be closed 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, Feb. 10th through the 14th. All other times the bridge will be reduced to one lane resulting in delays. You can detour through Gunlock of you need to travel North or South on SR-18 during the repairs. Please make sure you follow the speed limit through the small town of Gunlock during any detours as kids and animals may be on the narrow road through the town. Like if you think the Dammeron Valley Fire club is out of control in spending ( $1.24 Million each year for this small development), burdening residents to pay $400,000 in payroll and not making surrounding communities pay their fair share for services rendered by Dammeron's fire and rescue department. Like if you think $550 dues are too much. Like if you're thinking the board is acting more liberal than conservative. Like if you are done with this overreach and overtaxing.
