It's Your Vision, Not Mine
Producers sometimes feel like their instincts and their decisions are best. For me I've learned to not be shy about sharing my opinion but at the end of the day...it's your vision as the artist and songwriter....not mine. I might say something is good (and it may be good) but does it fit your vision? This push and pull is the place where good songs turn great. You can't see Jeff Canada Music in this clip but he's explaining to Gabe and I what he wants and how he hears it. And it turned out great in the end! While in quarantine, I thought it would be a good time to kick off my YouTube page. It's going to be all about music: Logic Pro X tuturiols, artist tips and a bunch of other things in the works. (It's also where all my SongWriter Snack Time Podcast Video episodes are posted).
This is the first video showing you the behind the scenes of how I do what I do. This one in particular is mixing related and probably more applicable and interesting to my producer friends out there. I go over the 6 plugins (really categories of thinking) that I put on my stereo bus fader that helps my mixes be the best they can be.
