The YCM Team would like to congratulate our Editor in Chief for receiving this award for her work as a Domestic Violence Advocate.
In her words:
“For the past 2 years, I’ve been on this journey as a domestic violence advocate. It has been hard but also rewarding at times.
From sleepless nights being up all night taking calls and go out on calls. (Which I don’t get paid for) Spending my own money to help victims when they don’t qualify to go into a shelter to get assistance.
The emotional weight of being an advocate alone is heavy. I’ve even had to seek counseling for my self to be able to handle it.
But no matter how hard it got, I keep PUSHing! Thank God for keeping me on track and focused on my assignment.
I wasn’t even expecting to receive this award. I’m a giver so I do a lot of things and don’t ask for anything in return. Not even recognition. But this truly blessed my soul and it’s a reminder that I’m doing what I was born to do.”

Repost from our Editor in Chief :
___________________

Watching the video of George Floyd crying for his mama as he was being MURDERED by that police officer broke my heart. I normally don’t watch videos like that but I had to see if it was true. I didn’t want to believe it! But my God he wouldn’t even move his knee when EMS arrived! So that tells me that he wanted to make sure George was dead. I also hold every other officer that was on the scene accountable!
Either they agreed with his actions or he’s a damn bully and they were all to afraid to check him. Regardless of the why, one of them should have said, “Come on man. Let’s get him up.” Or SOMETHING!
If you have a black son, YOU NEED TO WATCH THE VIDEO! It’s going to hurt. It’s going to p**s you TF off! But it will open your eyes to the danger they face every time they go outside.
Talk to your sons and make them aware of it if they don’t already know. Hell if they do know, talk them anyway just to make sure they FULLY understand!
Dear God, Please protect our black men...🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾😭😭

Please join us in sending a prayer up for our Editor in Chief .

“Good morning Kings & Queens ❤️💋

This is what tired looks like...

I went to bed at all 10:30.
Phone rings at 12:37. It lasts for over an hour.
Laid back down.
Phone rings at 2:22.
Phone rings at 4:48.
My alarm for work rings at 5:30...I was still on the last call.

It’s going to be a long day. Send a prayer up for your girl. 🙏🏾💜😩”

We truly appreciate all the work she’s doing as a domestic violence advocate. She’s often tired & frustrated but she doesn’t let that stop her! We love and appreciate you! 💜

A note from our Editor in Chief :

“Domestic violence reports are on the rise and there is new help available in New York.
According to NY State, reports are up 30% in April compared to last year. With people spending more time at home due to COVID19 restrictions, people in New York in need of help can text a hotline or go to a confidential online site.

If you or anyone you know are in need of help (in the NY area) and would like this information, please contact me via inbox or email: [email protected].

I’m trying to get something like this implemented in every state. 🙏🏾💜”

Pottstown woman is charged with murder as domestic violence rises in Montgomery County.

A fight over the contents of a cell phone led a Pottstown woman to grab a kitchen knife Thursday night and fatally slash her boyfriend’s neck in their apartment, Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele and Pottstown Police Chief Mick Markovich said Friday.

The slaying is part of a trend of domestic violence since the coronavirus pandemic has forced county residents to shelter at home, officials said.

‼️ As a result of the stay at home orders across the country, domestic violence has had a major increase. People are on edge and stressed out even more. The solidarity also contributes to mental illness issues like depression and anxiety. Then there’s jealousy and insecurities in many relationships as well. So being home isn’t safe for everybody.
Being an advocate during this pandemic is very stressful mentally and emotionally but I can’t imagine dedicating my time to anything else.
Please send up a prayer for all the victims of DV. 💜‼️

A breakup is so much more traumatic when you feel like you’ve lost your best friend.
The person that you called first when you had good news and you called that same person when you needed a shoulder to cry on and want to be held.
He was the first person to talked to in the morning and the last before you went to sleep at night.
He told you that you were beautiful even on days you knew you looked like Felicia from Friday. 😂
And when you’re having a moment when your upset and doing too much, he could reel you back in and calm you down with a smile, a kiss, & a hug.
He supports your dreams and helps make them come true. He pushes you hard because he believes in your power to do whatever you put your mind too.
You finally let down your guard and allow him in. You let him into your heart and treat him like the he is. is the caption under every pic.
But when the person that makes you smile the most turns into the person who breaks your heart, that pain seems to linger a little longer.
Although you know that you deserve better, you miss him. Not for anything specifically but you miss his entire presence and who he was in your life.
But, I’m here to tell you that your will heal! You will get over the pain and find love again. The next time it will be true and lasting.

Share your breakup story with us at: [email protected].

A message from our Editor in Chief :
“I took this pic a year ago yesterday. Never in my wildest dreams would I think that I would be fighting for my life within the next 24 hours. I was congested (thought it was allergies), had shortness of breath (thought I had gained too much weight), and just not feeling right. I woke up the next morning coughing to the point that I couldn’t regain my breath and my husband made me go to the ER. After being triaged I was immediately admitted (for nearly a week). I had pneumonia in both my lungs and around my heart, my oxygen level was only 87, my blood pressure was through the roof, and the mucus I was coughing up was streaked with blood. I’ll never forget the doctor telling me that if I hadn’t come in when I did, I would have died within the next day or so! There wasn’t a name for it then but now I know that I had the coronavirus! And as a result, I now have congestive heart failure! Please take this seriously! PLEASE! I am an essential employee so I still have to go to work for BOTH of my jobs as a chiropractic clinic and as a domestic violence advocate but I’m taking all of the necessary precautions especially since my husband is a diabetic and has suffered with kidney failure!
I know you want to continue to live your lives as normal BUT you just can’t right now. Please stay home as much as possible!
Thank God for covering me! 🙏🏾 “

A note for our Editor in Chief :
“Being active in MY community is just part of the process.
“To much is given, much is required.”
“God loves a cheerful giver.”

Two statements I live by!

I do so many other things that go UNSEEN because I don’t do it for show or recognition. I do it because it’s my assignment from God! So many people throw God’s name around but what are YOU doing for your people?
Sometimes I give more than what I have and I’m fine with that because God truly supplies all of my needs!”

A note from our Editor in Chief :

“First of all, CALM DOWN!

This actually COMMON in big cats and other animals. It is NOT the same thing!

Feline Coronavirus (FCoV) RT-PCR
Feline Coronavirus (FCoV) is a common viral infection in cats. It generally causes asymptomatic infection, but can cause mild diarrhea. As yet poorly understood changes in the virus can give rise to mutants that lead to the development of feline infectious peritonitis (FIP). Most cats infected with a FCoV eliminate virus following infection, but some cats may develop a persistent infection. These cats are generally asymptomatic, can shed large amounts of virus in f***s, and serve as a continual source of infection for other cats in the environment. Continual circulation of FCoV within a cat population may increase the chance that a virulent FIP strain might emerge. While the pathogenesis of FIP is poorly understood, it is now believed that detection and removal of persistently infected and shedding cats in a multi-cat household can reduce the risk of FIP emergence within that population.

JUST AN FYI!”

04/03/2020

From our Editor in Chief :

“COVID19 & Domestic Violence:

🟣Abuser &/or victim out of work.

🟣Victims being trapped with their abusers gives more opportunity for abuse to happen.

🟣Stress is causing the abuser to me more on edge.

🟣Kids are home and may witness the abuse or be abused themselves.

🟣Victim may have symptoms of COVID19 but because they have bruises, they’re not allowed to seek medical attention.

These are just a few examples of how COVID19 is affecting Domestic Violence across the nation.

We’ve been asked to stay home in an attempt to stay safe from the virus but there are some people we are not safer at home.

If you can, please make a donation to your local DV Organization. They are in need of toiletries, personal care items, and monetary donations. If you need the info on the Organization(s) and how to donate, please DM me.

Thank you 🙏🏾💜”

03/22/2020

A note from our Editor in Chief :

Now that Lexi’s birthday is over, we will be social distancing for the next couple weeks. Work, home, & store only when absolutely necessary.
We will not be ordering any food or any unnecessary items so that no one other (than my kids) have a reason to come to my home.
I feel that social distancing is vital in stopping the spread of COVID-19. If you’re not around anyone, you can’t catch it or pass it.
Just think, some people won’t show signs or symptoms for 14 days! Do you know how many people you can infect in that time frame or how many people you can come across that can infect you?!
Let’s all do our part & just stay home as much as possible. If I didn’t have to go to work (healthcare) I would hardly ever leave home. All I can do is take the necessary precautions, wash my hands, sanitize my hands and work space, and a keep a safe distance from everyone I come in contact with.
This is scary!
Entire countries have shut down and now some of the US are shutting down! Schools are closing indefinitely! There are not enough tests for everyone! There are not enough beds in hospitals to treat everyone!
Please take heed! 🙏🏾

Former Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood star Yung Berg, who has since re-emerged under his producer moniker Hitmaka, is being accused of pistol whipping his girlfriend which reportedly led to her being hospitalized this past weekend.

‼️ I hope that she presses charges and leaves him for good! But sadly many women get caught up in the fame & money that they stay and continue to be abused. No one deserves this but SHE has to understand stand that for it to matter. Please keep her in your prayers‼️

03/15/2020

Since I started drinking smoothies, my natural flu shots, & juices; using Turmeric, Ginger, Açaí, Matcha, and other natural fruits, veggies, roots, & herbs, I’ve strengthened my immune system. Last year, I got a cold, the flu, pneumonia, and my allergies were at an all time high but this year I haven’t had to deal with any of that. I’ve had allergies all my life for as long as I can remember. It feels so weird not to have any symptoms.😂
I also cut back on red meat, fried foods, dairy, and sweets. Because of my heart condition, my dr won’t let me work out so the weight loss is slow but it’s still going down and I’m happy with that. I’m really just happy about how great I feel now.
I will share a few of my smoothie and juices recipes in the May (Health & Wellness) issue of Your City Magazine.

Colorado Springs - On Saturday, March 7, a woman called 911 to report that she was just shot at near the intersection of Space Village Ave. and S. Marksheffel Rd. She then waved down a woman in a passing car who gave her a ride.

Police said that shortly after the woman got into the vehicle, a man in another vehicle pulled up next to them and fired several shots in their direction. Neither of the women were injured.

After a preliminary investigation, deputies and detectives were able to identify the suspect as 19-year-old Jamere Porter Williams.

Williams was arrested on the following charges:

First Degree Murder Attempted /Domestic Violence (DV), class 2 Felony
Menacing Felony Real/Simulated Weapon /DV, class 5 Felony
Criminal Mischief $1K to Less Than $5K / DV, class 6 Felony

I used to hate this big ole forehead and my lips that seemed way too wide for my face.
But now I embrace them both. So what my head is big!? I need it to hold all of these visions & ideas I have. And (I’ve been told that) my lips are perfect for kissing...which is my favorite pastime. 😂
Anyway, you have to and embrace everything about you because you look exactly the way God designed you so he definitely created someone who will love every part of you! ❤️💋
