Designed to attack 1-2-2 zone defenses, it’s also effective vs. 1-3-1 zones and man-to-man defenses. The Bomber can be taught and implemented in a short period of time. It’s most effective when you have good shooting forwards and centers.

“Bomber” is a quick-hitting offense that produces open 10- to 15-foot shots but can easily be extended to the 3-point arc.

The most full-proof way to be unscoutable scheme-wise is to not run a set or play. If your players are just playing good, fundamental basketball, there is nothing discount. It is easy to get caught up in a game and long to control every position. But if you have made an effort to teach your players how to play the game, instead of how to do a play, it is a valuable weapon.

You may find that being unscoutable is an enjoyable part of running your basketball program you never thought about.

The drill involves two teams, each with five players (coaches can run this drill 4-on-4 if they like). One ball is used, and the coach starts with the ball positioned anywhere on the perimeter.

This system works well enough that we now use it as our press-breaker. Instead of a rebounder, we have an inbounder. All other positions operate the same. Often, this transition beats a press down the floor before it can set up. There are a few other advantages to utilizing this system.

We’ve successfully developed and implemented a system of transition offense that’s unconventional and tough for opponents to defend.
