WIFI OPTIONS

Good morning Moore County! As we’re all waking up on this cold Monday, the Town of Southern Pines would like to share some resources we’ve made available for anyone who needs a warm building and power for charging.

The Haney Community Room of the Southern Pines Police Department will remain open indefinitely 24/7. It has power and public WiFi.

Our Southern Pines Public Library will be open from 10-4 today. Our building has power but no internet. So, we won’t be able to offer traditional library services, but will be another space with heat and power. Our librarians will be on hand with snacks and drinks, plus board games. Feel free to cozy up with a book from our shelves while you’re there, we just won’t be able to offer book check outs without internet.

We will make another update later today on the status of non-essential services for Tuesday and additional resources we can provide.

Breaking News: The Senate on Tuesday passed a measure that would make Daylight Saving Time permanent across the United States. The bill would still need to pass the House and be signed by President Joe Biden to become law. If the measure clears Congress and is signed into law, it would mean no more falling back every year in the fall.

COVID-19 drive-thru testing starts today at 9AM and runs until 4PM, Monday to Thursday, in the Moore County Health Department's parking lot (705 Pinehurst Ave., Carthage). On Fridays, testing is open from 8:30AM to 12:30PM.
There is no cost for testing and no appointment or physician referral is required.
If you have symptoms of COVID-19 or think you may have COVID, you should stay away from others, wear a mask, and
get tested!

Due to unsafe road conditions in various parts of the county, Moore County Schools will be closed for all students on Monday, January 24th. School closures include students currently participating in virtual learning.

Monday, January 24th is an optional workday for staff.
