As a Palestinian refugee who later grew up in the Bronx, Fatema had to raise herself at the young age of 15 and quickly learned the value of hard work. Fatema says: "I came from nothing. I was homeless, I was hungry and I was in a refugee camp in a war. I never thought, in a million years, that I would be here today." In 2019, she started the business in her small apartment in New York. Over the next three years, the company, AFL beauty bar, has exploded into one of the biggest medical spas in the country. Fatema now has nine branches across the US and plans to expand further to every state. From the age of 4-years-old to 17, Feramis went through 21 surgeries and her back and leg bones are now built with Titanium.
