In this #reelsvideo I'm sharing the past establishments that have fallen to the wayside of vicious entrepreneurial titans. A classic staple in the City of Downey's downtown strip! I recorded The Downey Avenue Theater about a month and a half ago looking nothing like this (will be posting that reel soon, no pun! heh) and to my amazement here it is... a sad beat up version with it's marque missing, front boarded up. In the video I will be posting soon, it shows a pop-up style business coming that seemed promising only because I love 🍕🍕! but on a serious note... this City has gone through many many changes and more that a few are Not Good for historical purposes. This is Bob's broiler coffee shop. After illegally demolitioning the Original establishment 'Johnny's Broiler' The City of Downey was ordered to rebuild this replica which was the cities residents request! The People have power! Remember that.
Fun Fact: Hollywood and the Music Industry used Johnny's Broiler for many movies and video. One of my favorites is the film HEAT. You can see Robert De Niro and Val Kilmer go toe to toe at this Historical location.
