Jackson HS is excited to announce Yanina Sherwood as our Student of the Month for April as our Scholar Athlete. We are so fortunate to have the truly gifted student-athlete, Yanina Sherwood, as part of our school community. Not only has this student been a leader in the classroom, but she has also been a leader on the volleyball court, on the softball diamond, and as a musician in our Jazz band. Last year, Yanina played an instrumental role in leading the Jackson softball team to a state championship. She was selected as Wesco Softball Player of the Year, The Herald Softball Player of the Year, MaxPreps softball player of the year, Scorebook Live’s softball player of the year, and as a first team high school All-American. This student-athlete is a captain in every sense of the word as she inspires her teammates and coaches with her work ethic, with performance, and with her positive and infectious demeaner. Next year she will be attending UNLV and playing on their softball team.

New signs were installed at our parks a few weeks ago. Signs were also installed at parks that did not have signs (Library Park, Hillside Park, and Exploration Park).

These signs include updates that focus on the most common questions and concerns. Here are a few:

• Park hours are 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. for parks with shelters and lights. All other parks are sunrise to sunset.
• Tennis/Pickleball court hours are the same. Please do not play on courts before 8:00 a.m. or after 10:00 p.m., our neighborhood parks are surrounded by residential homes, please be considerate.
• Reservations are not required to use our picnic shelters, they are first come, first served. Please share the space with others.
• No soliciting or selling of items allowed in our parks. This includes food trucks, garage sales, or fundraising efforts.
• No canopies, tents, awnings, drones, or bouncy houses are allowed.

Freedom Field
• No league play, classes, or instruction are allowed at Freedom Field or our parks without prior approval from the City.
• No field use is allowed when it is rented for practice or games. You can check the online calendar to plan ahead: millcreekwa.gov/freedom.
