Local male now charged with second degree murder following his father’s death
Release Date: February 24, 2022
22-3517
Police are advising the public that Adrion COLE has now been charged with second degree murder following the death of his father in hospital. This stems from an incident that had originally occurred on January 30, 2022 at a residence on Adelaide Street in downtown Kings ton.
The victim, who had been located by his wife gravely injured in the basement of their residence, had been transported to Kings ton General Hospital and remained in the Intensive Care Unit before finally succumbing to the life threatening injuries that he had sustained on January 30, 2022.
Adrion COLE, a 37-year-old local man, who was originally charged with aggravated assault, remains in custody and now stands charged with second degree murder and four counts of breach of probation.
Original Release: February 2, 2022
On January 31, 2022 at approximately 12:40 p.m. police received a call for service to conduct a welfare check at a residence on Adelaide Street, east of Division Street, in downtown Kings ton.
Police attended the residence and further investigation revealed that on January 30, 2022 at approximately 8:00 p.m. the accused Adrion COLE had been at the residence on Adelaide Street where his mother and his father, the victim, both resided. COLE’s mother had become concerned for the wellbeing of her husband, the victim, when he failed to respond to her from the basement of the residence after he had attended downstairs with his son.
COLE’s mother attended downstairs to find the victim lying unconscious and nonresponsive on the floor of the basement near the bottom of the stairs. She called 911 and both Frontenac Paramedics as well as Kings ton Fire and Rescue attended to render assistance to the victim. The victim was then transported to Kings ton General Hospital by Frontenac Paramedics where it was determined that he had suffered serious and significant injuries to his head.
The following day the attending physician, after thoroughly examining the victim’s multiple head injuries, determined that they were not consistent in providing credence to the claim that the victim had fallen down the stairs leading to the basement of the residence.
Police, after attending the residence, had discovered that the accused was still at the scene and was currently on numerous court imposed probation conditions, one of which prohibited him from communicating with his father and mother. Yet another probation condition prohibited him from attending their residence on Adelaide Street. Further information was obtained by police while at the residence which provided grounds for his arrest for the charge of aggravated assault in relation to the victim’s injuries.
Adrion COLE, a 37-year-old local man, was charged with aggravated assault and four counts of breach of probation.
The victim remains in the Intensive Care Unit of Kings ton General Hospital suffering from life threatening injuries.
