Going through what I’ve posted thus far to Flickr I still think this takes the cake for my favorite shot this year.

NYSW CLX rounds through Red Rocks, PA. Along the Susquehanna is a rare daylight run of a westbound on the old Erie.

CL2 @ Red Rocks, the slope is fairly loose in spots. However, a shot at Red Rocks was always a want of mine, finally can scratch that off my list.

Back in familiar settings at the end of Camp Street in Sidney. I used to ride my bike with my brother to go see trains while he took pictures.

New video is up! It's not the greatest since a snow squall decided to make an appearance. Kansas City Southern's honoring veterans unit lead NS train 30T and I was able to catch it in Sidney.

I took advantage of the warm weather to go railfan with some friends around the area. Saw 5 trains overall, RJ Corman and Norfolk Southern were the stars today. Below is RJC 3844 leaving Sayre.

After a friend gave me a heads up that the RJC GP38-2 would be leading the Sayre turn, I raced to Sayre to catch it. This would be my first RJ Corman unit I've ever caught on camera.

Showroom Shine

A very big congratulations to the Unadilla Fire Department with their recent delivery of their 2010 Pierce Quantum Rescue-Engine. This truck replaces 2 units and allows for cheaper upkeep and more efficient call response. Best of luck with the new rig!

Today's short chase of Lehigh/RJC's pair of vintage U23B's along their line out of Sayre, PA. I've always wanted to catch the other pair of U23B's on Lehigh's system, today that quest was completed.

I took one last trip to Goudey/AES Westover before the facility gets demolished. Due to the environmental concerns with a old building like this, security was stopping everyone that was walking along the also abandoned DL&W Vestal Spur. So these final shots will do for a iconic piece of the Johnson City skyline.

Following the word of the final CAF run coming Monday down the D&H then return trip Tuesday, I knew I needed to go out and grab it. Seen here in Cooperstown Junction, NS 099 pounds along the Schenevus Creek on its way back to Schenectady. I have more pictures of this chase on my flickr under the “Last CAF train” album.

NS 099 charges through Cooperstown Junction on the D&H. This interchange was a issue during the sale of the line. Due to the fact CP didn't list it as an active interchange. Even when(at the time) the LRHS leased the property from CP.

Were you able to get a peek at the moon last night? Its orange color is due to wildfires out west, its expected to look like this again tonight in the northeastern United States. Last night I was able to go out and get some pictures of it in Sidney. I'm hoping to get some more tonight.

I'm still trying to remember how to do moon photography so hopefully it will get better with time./

Well, that's one Union Pacific Heritage Unit in the books. UP 1982 heads through QD to tie onto its train sitting on one of the yard tracks in Binghamton.

23K Runs down past multiple autoracks in Binghamton yard. UP 1982 was the star of the show following a day of sitting in East Binghamton Yard all day. Harsh light conditions from a inbound storm did not help much today.

I was able to see one of CSX's Honoring First Responders units in Syracuse today. CSXT 3194 was painted in a Blue/Black/White scheme honoring Law Enforcement. The unit has made one appearance already up here, but went through in the dark.

New camera to the arsenal!

Today I took delivery of my new Canon 90D. 32 MP sensor(Prints will be much higher in quality), with 10 shots per second(11 in live view), and 4K 30FPS video. This now drops my T5 into the backup slot. I can’t wait to see how my shots with the 90D turn out!

After getting news that something other than a SD60E was leading 23K it was almost as if a Heritage Unit came to town with how unusual it was to see a non SD60E leader.

Here we see 23K at Hancock road in Sanitaria Springs with NS 4174(DC/AC rebuild unit), a PAR C40-8, and then a NS SD70ACE coming off the hill.

Yep, this is what it has come to. Run of the mill ES44s have become the only interesting thing to lead north of BInghamton anymore. The D&H has gotten mundane since the ACSES requirement. I was able to railfan CSX’s Mohawk Subdivision in Utica for a couple of hours Monday, its always a nice change of scenery besides seeing the same Norfolk Southern engines every day. Video link is below.

Congrats to Sidney PD on the new car! I was able to pop in and have a couple shots taken for the new cars unveiling and for the white Ta**us's new decal job.

New cars mean new lettering. The Sidney Police Department took delivery of a brand new Ford Explorer to add to their fleet, Sidney PD also had the white Ta**us re-lettered for a uniform look on their cars. Congrats on the new car and the new lettering for 551!

If you like SD60E’s, then the D&H is for you. ACSES II requirements on MBTA lines now give a select roster of SD60E’s a home on the Northern End of Norfolk Southern’s D&H route.

As 23K crests Belden Hill the usual power for the Binghamton to Ayer leg is starting to be boring for line regulars. As they are the only engines on NS's entire roster equipped with ACSES technology for MBTA's service area.

A big thank you to the crew that gave up their downtime to come out and wait track side with me for the shocking 15 minutes it took to get from Bainbridge to Sidney(5 miles by rail).
