Congratulations ππππΎ
SNAPSHOT OF CHAMPIONS: This snapshot by Kita Wright freezes in time the image of a team that will be talked about for decades, a true Cinderella Story that defied all odds.
Congratulations to the Ouachita Parish Lions football team on an unforgettable and hard-earned state championship victory.
After fighting through one of the toughest districts in the state, the Lions showed the heart of champions when it mattered most. Finishing fifth in District 2-5A could have broken a weaker team, but Ouachita kept believing, kept working, and kept pushing forward.
On Saturday, December 13, under the bright lights of the Caesars Superdome, the Lions made history. In a thrilling 21β20 win over Ruston, Ouachita captured its first LHSAA football state title in more than 35 years. It was a victory built on resilience, discipline, and faith in one another.
None of the players and some of the staff were not even born the last time Ouachita held a state trophy in 1989. Yet they carried the pride of past Lions onto the field and wrote a new chapter for the school, the community, and the parish.
To the players, coaches, staff, parents, and fans: this championship is a reward for perseverance. Like a farmer who keeps planting even after a dry season, you trusted the process, and the harvest came in the Superdome.
This snapshot freezes a moment, but it is the first of many such snapshots that will come in the future as these young men step into their futures, believing "all things are possible."
