The 16oz. Canvas - the Art of Craft Beer

The 16oz. Canvas - the Art of Craft Beer The focus here is on the artists & designers who work tirelessly to create unique and captivating labels and logos of the growing craft beer community.
(3)

The 16oz. Canvas is proud to announce the launch of their new website and podcast focusing on the Art of Craft Beer. Hosted by AJ Keirans, this unique look at the craft beer industry takes an intimate look at the Artists and Designers who bring our favorite beers and breweries to life through their work on this unique sized canvas. The project will officially launch on April 7th - National Beer Da

y. Each episode features a specific artist, team or designer who works tirelessly to add their own aesthetic to bring the beers to the next level. Over the last five years the number of breweries in the United States has reached an all-time high. Add in the utilization of new technology including but not limited to mobile canning stations, dynamic and affordable design software and even the crowler and you’ll find an exciting era in craft beer history. With the increased amount of real estate allocated for craft beer in your local liquor and package stores not to mention the numerous brewery only special releases available to you, now more than ever design and creativity outside of the can or bottle are essential. We all have gone down the beer aisle unsure of what adult beverage we should choose for our guests or weekend starter kit only to be swayed by a great logo or design. Our hope is that the beer is just as good as the artwork, but this is a beer agnostic project focused on the artists. Styles and ratings are not the priority of this endeavor. Each week we will introduce you to a new artist from around the country and showcase their work in and outside of the craft beer industry. Their stories and adventures are unique and inspiring while giving a glimpse into their personality and creative process. Whether you’re a beer snob, art lover, entrepreneur or podcast addict, this project has something for everyone.

EPISODE 185 IS LIVE ACROSS ALL PLATFORMS.⁣

This week’s episode we catch up with the gig poster guru and music fan after my heart, the amazingly talented and trippy artist Matt Leunig. A lot has changed since we last spoke back for Episode 44. Matt now lives in the Atlanta area, previously he was in San Francisco and he is also full immersed in doing the dad thing and crushing it.⁣

Fun fact is that because of Matt we have these create episode album covers. When he created the one for his original episode my mind was blown and thanks in huge part to Zac Brady, they are now a staple of the project. One of the nerdy reasons I wanted to have the early guests back is so that they could get the proper album cover artwork.

EPISODE 184 IS LIVE ACROSS ALL PLATFORMS.⁣

We catch up with the machine who was part of our first 4 pack going all the way back to Episode 2. David’s labels are a key part of the amazing beer and brewery that is - who’s got some of the Skillet Donut for me?! So good.⁣

From the beginning this episode has resonated with me because of his story and career path from Accountant to Rock Posters and Labels. He did what he loved and through support of family took his shot and here we are today. It is one of the stories about the journey and passion that has resonated with me since day 1. The man loves music and is doing what he loves on the daily with bands and beer. His project is getting closer to the finish line and I couldn’t be more excited for him and the team. It is a true example of hard work and creating something literally from nothing. I look forward to Planet Doom Fest in the future.⁣

This episodes are a great way to catch up with these individuals who have impacted my life and made me believe in something that wasn’t real and just an idea. The story of DPS is one that I mention a lot when talking with others both on and off the pod and I know it inspires many to go for their passion. Nothing is guaranteed but you also can’t live life full of regrets. ⁣

My box of Soul Sour arrived today and I am still smiling from the energy of this collaboration that brought so many amazing people in my universe together for the greater good. ⁣

All proceeds went to ⁣

The beer is great and on top of that is NA. It’s really a first of its kind for me. I look forward to what the future brings, but know together this raised a lot of money for a good cause run by amazing people. Money won’t fix all the problems and issues we try and tackle at BK, but when it comes from a good place and is fueled by good people it makes a much larger impact. Be safe everyone.

EPISODE 183 IS NOW LIVE ACROSS ALL PLATFORMS.⁣

This week’s episode features and . Dan works for and Earl with and they are big supporters of each other which I love. Each of them have their own unique style and are key to the branding of their respective breweries which is awesome. ⁣

We have had the opportunity to hang together on a few occasions and were even featured on the other side of the mic from Heritage Radio Network. ⁣

This episode is a virtual hang and a lot of fun. We shared the stage and support each other while catching up and checking in on each other’s sanity and how we are all coping with this. The dynamic was as close as we could get to hanging out but was genuine and real and felt normal. Learning about each other’s schedules and projects as well as a little discussion on things we want to do in the future. ⁣

I look forward to catching up with these two in the future, maybe game night soon. Be safe and thank you all.

EPISODE 182 IS NOW LIVE ACROSS ALL CHANNELS (including Youtube!)⁣

Mr. is good people. We connected over hard work and passion a few years back and have stayed in contact and he might even call me his friend. His style and attention to detail amazes me and knowing how focused he is on it all being hand drawn and aligned with his vision makes them even more impressive. ⁣The work for is special.

I had the pleasure of hanging in Cincy at with him and back in 2019 which seems like years ago. We ate (one of the best chicken sandwiches!!), drank and laughed. It was magical. ⁣

A little over a year ago a horrific accident which included lightning striking his home and causing it to burn down and lose so much of his work and possessions. Thankfully no one was hurt physically but the rebuilding process is ongoing and something that we talked about in the episode. He’s honest and genuine and a huge supporter of me. On the surface you may judge him since he is tattoeed from ass to elbow, but please don’t. He’s a kind and genuine soul who loves his family and friends.⁣

Enjoy this episode and get to know what my friend is all about. Don’t forget to like and subscribe on the Youtube. That’s what all the kids say so I am working that pitch into our commentary.

Exciting news to share. Your boy is considered an Expert.⁣

Being a part of this contest has been bucket list for me for a minute, so it was only natural to nominate some of our past guests and label favorites to be included in the mix. ⁣

A lot of folks see the beer and the breweries, which I love don’t get me wrong but to me the labels are the people that are bringing these beers an breweries to life, which is why I am so excited that so many of the recommendations of the crew are part of this list.⁣

Episode 179 is LIVE featuring our good friend and original 4-packer guest,

Dean’s path and story have evolved since we first spoke with him almost four years and it’s awesome. Listen to Episode 4 and then look to see where his career has gone, it’s amazing and impressive all while still being the same great, chill and passionate human. ⁣

Since we first connected we have collaborated together on two of our three ‘The Art of Craft Beer’ art shows (New Haven and Hub Bub in Maine) and i’m proud to call him a friend. ⁣

His newest endeavor is a family affair and gives you the option to have your beer housed in a piece of art. They’re awesome and something ever beer lover should have in their collection. ⁣

Catch up with Keever and learn what he has in store for the future with , and many of his great clients. Available on YouTube and wherever you get your podcasts. ⁣

So much more than beer. Beyond excited for these kollaboration beers from & not to mention Kulture Tings which is our first and then on top of thatexcitement is with the brews. Our Vice President is an incredible person and someone who I feel lucky to work with for BK and getting to try some of his beers has me on end of Dryuary watch with much excitement. Doing great things and if we can have a few a few great beers together too that’s just a bonus. ❤️

In an effort to make this unique we have asked the guests if they wanted to invite someone to join them and Jess being the positive force she is invited Crystal Stokes to join us for part of the interview as she created a label for the People Power label with the Alchemist. That’s what I love about this community the love and support of other artists to build each other up.⁣

Learn about , her passion and process and how she works with and The Alchemist to bring this People Power label to life. We look forward to learning more about Crystal and her story in the future and are glad we were able to connected together.⁣

We are continuing with our Season 16 adventure of reconnecting with some of our guests from the past which takes us back to EPISODE 7 with of . ⁣

The Alchemist is iconic and one of the earliest breweries to have pop-up releases and lines for their special releases, which in perspective of their operation now in Stowe is crazy to think about. Now you can walk away with no issue a case of Heady and Focal on the regular as long as they are open for business. ⁣

Thinking back to our interview, Jess invited me to do the interview with her at the brewery so I woke up before sunrise and drove to VT. It was an amazing day and experience. I couldn’t believe that this idea (the podcast) was having me up in Vermont an getting a tour of one of the breweries that was an inspiration for all of this. We have featured too who did the Heady and Focal labels as well as who has done some art and merch designs with them too. ⁣

Jess not only was a guest on the podcast, but she joined us for our first art event ‘The Art of Craft Beer’ in New Haven, CT back in July 2018. She continues to bring to life the love, the nature an energy that is the outdoors and Vermont in her work. I remember visiting Burlington with my family an seeing an amazing mural and just knowing it was hers. We talk about that, her family and catch up on this next installment of our video series.⁣

In an effort to make this unique we have asked the guests if they wanted to invite someone to join them and Jess being the positive force she is invited to join us for part of the interview as she created a label for the People Power label with the Alchemist. That’s what I love about this community the love and support of other artists to build each other up.⁣

So we’re doing it…⁣

https://youtu.be/drBIT8sBIgc

Season 16 is an opportunity for us to catch up with friends of episodes past who were guests on the podcasts during the beginning and took a chance (said w/ sarcasm) of being associated with us. In the early days our branding was duct taped together at best and it always was a sore spot for me. I love the creative episode cover that created for us around Episode 50 and am glad that we will be able to catch up with these wonderful people. ⁣

With that said we are going to give this Season a shot and host these interviews on YouTube too. We will conduct them by way of video and learn in the process. I expect some growing pains but given the current climate seeing faces and sharing a smile isn’t really a bad thing. ⁣

APPARENTLY you need 100 subscribers to create a custom URL on so please subscribe and enjoy this new adventure - Season 16!!

A beautiful picture and reflection.

We’ve spent the past week reflecting on what happened in our nation’s Capitol. We’re sad. We’re angry. We’re appalled. And we never thought that we, as a brewery social media account, would feel compelled to acknowledge a violent insurrection. But we didn’t want to say nothing, because that felt worse. So, we’re taking this moment to connect with all of you. We hope you can lean on friends, family, and loved ones during all of this, because they most likely need to lean on you too. And don’t forget to be kind to yourself. Sincerely, your friends at Allagash.

Bill and the team have been supporters of the 16oz Canvas since our first event, The Art of Craft Beer way back in New Haven the summer of 2018. Our friend of introduced us to them and we even featured on Episode 144 to learn about their branding and labels. We also will have some exciting news to announce about for February and a special release from the brewery.⁣

𝘈𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘈𝘵𝘩𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘤 𝘉𝘳𝘦𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨⁣
Craft Beer Lovers at Heart: We brew delicious craft beer that just happens to be non-alcoholic. Our founders Bill and John started Athletic because there was nothing like it on the market. They’re craft beer lovers who wanted to cut back on alcohol without compromising on flavor. They realized that the innovation and interesting flavors that they loved in other craft beers just weren’t available in non-alcoholic beer. So, they brewed the beer that they wanted to drink. It turns out there were lots of other drinkers looking to moderate or abstain from their alcohol consumption and they were also thirsty. To keep Athletic flowing to our community of beer lovers we’ve expanded our brewery and taproom on the East Coast and just opened a new brewery on the West Coast.⁣

Lastly, we want everyone to know that they sell beer online at www.athleticbrewing.com and customers get free shipping for orders of two or more 6-packs. Use the code below and make sure to pick up some of their Oktoberfest too! ⁣

F@€k 2020. This might be label and beer name of the year. Short and to the point. Big appreciation to and the crew at .coffee . A CT Brewery by way of Philly resonates with me a lot. Good people making good beer and taking some chances with unique flavor profiles and styles while supporting some of our favorite artists in the process. This badass label is by but they have also worked with and too, some of our podcast alumni.⁣
