Cabin fever. It can happen any time, any location to any person. We as humans like to be occupied with things to do. Depending on the season, spare time, income and location, cabin fever can affect anyone.

Some people will stream videos and movies, some folks enjoy a good workout while others decide to do deep cleaning and rearranging.
Still others like to head out for fishing, bar hopping, relaxing with loved ones and making the most of their day.

Certainly, many cities feature a wide variety of taverns, restaurants, stores and special events, as well as theaters, museums and live performances.
Many taverns have opted for activities like kareoke, mini-bowling, virtual golf, comedian performances, ax throwing, darts and billiard tables as ways to attract potential customers.
However, many individuals become bored or frustrated trying to find recreational things to do that don't involve serving alcohol, due to being in recovery, crowds, potential safety concerns, younger individuals and persons with special needs.

Sheboygan county is a county of celebration, inclusiveness, cultural diversity and unity. There's a wide range of activities for all. Manitowoc County proudly features a zoo as well as arcades for all ages and individuals, which surely increases tourism and visitors.

One thing we can't help but notice is that we definitely have a need, as well as a demand, for more recreational centers. We feel that as a community, more interactions with animals, family friendly centers and more free and lower cost activities would greatly benefit our demographic.

So Citizens Advocate wants your input. Certainly, for-profit centers need to cover their operational costs, accepting donations and doing fund raising. Non-profit centers also face these challenges, and they also hold fund raising events and accept donations- as well as volunteers. So we're seeking public input: What are some of the ways that organizations can appeal to counties? How can these organizations trim their costs? How can the general public help to offset the costs, as well as lighten the work load for events and day to day operations? We can all do our part if we can all collarberate!

In 2021, we set out to cover the case of Rhys Pocan, a 35-year-old Indigenous woman who was murdered in Wisconsin in the ‘80s. But while we were in the field, we uncovered a disturbing pattern of murders with similarities to Rhys’ that were just too blatant to ignore. So, we spent the next three...

Last seen wearing Light blue jeans. A Jean jacket with the sleeves light blue and the back of the jacket is white with writing on it. A plain white crop top. Hair was in a low pony tail braided down.

For the first time this season, at least in Sheboygan county, snow is on the ground and here to stay if only for a little while. While it's easy to get hung up on the woes of slippery, icy conditions coupled with the weary woes of snow removal, there's no denying the beauty of the white wonder that tumbles from the sky. From glistening icing gracing bare branches to soft, fluffy cushions of white, elegant crystals, it is truly a sight to behold. As begrudgingly as one might dread an icy drive, it is ever so apparent of the transformation that is pleasing to the eye as well as the heart. In a world of chaos and confusion where we are consumed by all our wants and needs it's impossible to overlook the simplest-yet most obvious fascinating landscape of earthly beauty. It is a gift. A blessing. And one would be wise to allow themselves the exhilaration of God's creation.

The weather may be beautiful and sunny looking in Wisconsin, but don't be fooled!
Winter is here and people need to be aware of the extreme cold temperature risks that we are facing. Here are some things to keep in mind:

Hypothermia can set in within minutes. The first symptoms is shivering, which is the body's attempt to warm itself, followed by sleepiness and confusion, changes in skin color, slurred speech and loss of consciousness.
Frostbite can occur when skin is exposed to extreme temperatures. Wind chill can very quickly cause frostbite within minutes, just like hypothermia. Symptoms include cold, slightly painful, tingly, skin color changes. It can lead to more severe consequences the longer a person is exposed to the extreme cold and windchill. It is imperative to seek medical help immediately in both cases.

Other risk factors in extreme temperatures and snow conditions include black ice patches which can be dangerous for travel and even walking.
Salting and removal for snow and ice can result in injury and there is a risk of heart attack or other medical emergency, especially for people ages 40+ or individuals with other health conditions.

The best advice that we can give is don't travel if you don't have to. Keep your car full of gas. Put a bag of cat litter in the trunk to help with traction. Bundle up in layers of clothing, covering as much skin as possible if you need to go out.

Check in with your neighbors and family. Unfortunately, furnaces ate prone to malfunction and shut down. Some older vehicles may be more difficult to start.

The main objective is to stay safe! We must protect ourselves and each other! Take care and be safe, everyone!
