50 years of the Zoo
Weathering fifty years of dramatic changes in the Eastlake neighborhood, the Zoo Tavern isn’t just a bar; it’s a Seattle time capsule. So, how does the pub manage to do it? As owner Howard Brown said in a 2015 Art Zone with Nancy Guppy interview, the secret is that the business leans into nostalgia while also being 'kind of like the Chuck E. Cheese for young adults.' Read a feature from The Seattle Times on the Zoo's five decades: https://www.seattletimes.com/life/food-drink/50-years-on-this-north-seattle-bar-is-as-weird-as-ever/

CityStream: Outdoor Leadership
The Washington Trails Association Association's Outdoor Training Program teaches adults from communities around the city how to lead youth trips into the wild. 🌲⛰️🦅 They believe everyone deserves access to the incredible nature we have in our region, so they provide not only hands-on training for hiking and camping excursions, but gear, too! ⛺🥾We checked in with WTA staff, leaders-in-training, and Seattle youth back in 2015, and the program is still going strong today.
Take a 360° tour of graffiti masterpieces from the past five decades
"When everybody's gone, this canvas will still be there." 🎨
Take a 360° tour of "COMPLEXITY," an epic collection of graffiti masterpieces created by some of the most influential graffiti writers of the last fifty years. Many of the larger-than-life graffiti pieces are by artists who have died, but, as curator Baby-G Carswell says, their legacies live on in their work as both history lesson and inspiration to others.
The collection was on display at Office of Arts & Culture Seattle King Street Station, June 6 – July 20, 2024.

Alley Cat Project's inspiring story of saving Seattle's strays
"Homeless people are just normal people going through a really rough time, and the connection they have with their pets is often lifesaving, and that should not be undermined for any reason." ❤️🐈 Seattle's feral cats often live short and difficult lives, but Alley Cat Project provides them with fresh food and captures feral kittens so they can be spayed and neutered which reduces the overall population. Many of those cats are then fostered and adopted out to loving homes.
