My 10 yr old son LOVES Goodwill and we go Saturday mornings sometimes. Having just got the last of the Christmas stuff put away, the mantle is bare.

He runs up to me super excited, saying he found the PERFECT 1st thing for our mantle. And now, my ONLY mantle decor is frogs playing cards. $3.45 win. šŸ¤£šŸ˜

My take on a string of pearls plant, patterned from my heart as a gift for a friend. Used the glass jar/shake method for burnishing all 71 of the globs worked amazingly well! Heavy copper electrical wire for the tendrils, Michaels jewelry section for the hanging chain, and a magical find at the thrift store for the globs.

Question: is there a benefit to grinding the glass globs for a project like this? I was told to grind globs to make a flat edge for the foil to stick (or maybe to solder more easily?), but I didn't have an issue on this project, or my previous wreath. Just wondering what everyone here thinks!

Went to my favorite antique store, flustered and stressed over the day ahead, and I saw the man that supplies a lot of their stuff bringing in this beautiful thing full of yarn and needles. I wanted it immediately, I asked him how much he wanted for it and he said $30. I couldnā€™t get my cash out fast enough! Took all the old yarn out and put mine in. I just started a new project yesterday and this could not be more perfect!!! Definitely made my day so much better šŸ’ššŸ’ššŸ˜šŸ˜

I looked it up and apparently these were originally made to be for sewing things, it had thread spools inside, but I donā€™t see so itā€™s for my yarn instead šŸ˜

My heart nearly stopped when I happened across this, one of the most amazing finds in a lifetime of thrifting, outside a yard sale that had already ended. I schlepped it five blocks back home. Itā€™s huge! No banana in the fruit bowl, so hereā€™s a bandana for scale.

ADDENDUM: Wow! I posted this on Friday morning and moseyed off to work...and Iā€™m just checking it now. With this many likes, the algorithm will be feeding me scary clowns for years to come! Maybe I should just quit the internet now, while Iā€™m ahead.
Thanks for the info regarding the provenance of this insane-looking artifact. I just assumed Iā€™d never know where it came from or where itā€™s been.

I bought this at the Franciscan Thrift in town this past weekend. I donā€™t know what it is, and I donā€™t careā€¦ I love it and it fits into my feminine, very eclectic art room. It looks like a lamp, but itā€™s not and never was. Measurements are 3.5 ft tall to the removable finial and 22ā€ across the top. Sheā€™s big.

I canā€™t remember who posted the picture of this wine bottle and the cookies they made. I never knew that this wine bottle bottom was supposed to be a cookie mold. So I tried to make the cookies. This is my grandmotherā€˜s sugar cookie recipe. This is how the cookies turned out. My advice is have several bottles on hand because eventually no matter what you do the dough sticks to the bottle. Happy baking!ļæ¼
