Sunday, August 23 marks one year since I returned to the terrestrial airwaves at Downtown Radio Tucson 99.1 FM.
And what a year it’s been.
Every Saturday morning, I get to spend two hours digging through the record crates, mixing old favorites with brand-new discoveries, unexpected covers and some of the incredible music being made right here in Tucson.
But a radio show isn’t much of a radio show without somebody on the other end listening.
So to everyone who has tuned in to Saturday A.M. Toonz over the past year—whether you listen every week, catch me when you can, stream from somewhere far beyond Tucson, send me a message about something I played, or simply leave the radio on while you go about your Saturday morning—thank you.
I don’t take for granted how lucky I am to still get to do this after all these years.
And I especially don’t take for granted having an independent, community-supported station like Downtown Radio Tucson that gives people like me a place to make weird, personal, local radio.
Here’s to Year Two. 📻🎶🥣
