A message from our friends at the Sealy American Legion:

"It's time for Tuesday Night Bingo - and wow do we have some great plans!
We're going to try a new game tonight - a test! We have some new paper - in the form of 3 "X" on the card, and each point on the X is a double action (only need one of two). Gotta fill all 3 Xs to win! And since it's paper and not a card, we'll sell these for $3 each. If we sell 100 - that will pay out 213.75 after taxes!
Hot food from the Sealy Eastside Foundation! And you gotta come early for this - they get people coming in to support them that aren't playing Bingo!
And our ATM is now working! No need to run out to get cash someplace else!
And wow - 58 balls on the Teal paper! You might want to win that too - it's only worth $1199!
Cool AC (some say we keep it too cool! Is that a thing in the Summer?????)
We're raising money right now for some much needed repairs on our Kitchen - a lot of damage there from the storms and animals and we need to fix it!
So come on out, have some fun! And let's play Bingo!"

In Texas, managing garden water stress is crucial, with both excess and insufficient water leading to similar plant symptoms and potential demise. Larry Stein, a horticulture specialist, advises using well-draining soil and strategic irrigation practices to mitigate these risks, emphasizing the importance of mulching and w**d control to conserve moisture and support plant health, especially during droughts or heavy rains. For vibrant summer gardens, he recommends colorful additions like Gold Star Esperanza and Pride of Barbados, known for their resilience and striking blooms throughout the season.

Texas A&M University has decided not to revive its student bonfire tradition, discontinued 25 years ago following a tragic accident that claimed 12 lives. President Mark Welsh III cited community feedback and safety concerns in his decision, opting instead for alternative celebrations to mark the renewed football rivalry with the University of Texas at Austin.

Resuming the bonfire was “not in the interest” of Texas A&M, said school President Mark Welsh III.

Our Story

Austin County News Online (www.austincountynewsonline.com) is a web based news source that was started to give the citizens of Austin County, Texas access to FREE local, state, national and international news and topics. We also strive to provide video of local events taking place in our county. The Austin County Area has primarily only had news in the form of print media. These weekly papers were the sole source of news for the area. However, this medium lacks the potential that online news can generate. The ability to harness the true power of the world wide web. With web based news a wide variety of tools are available: graphics, links, video, and interactivity to name a few. Austin County News Online.com was created to utilize these resources. As our logo shows, we are focused on Austin County but, can and do reach out to the surrounding counties as well.

We have made great strides since our inception in 2014 bringing information of relevance to the people of Austin County through video. But, we are aiming to do so much more. Our plans are to become Austin County’s first internet based news station functioning similarly to the Houston area television station’s website’s.

Our website has many areas of interest to Austin County and the surrounding counties. We post local and surrounding area jobs on our jobs board. Our community calendar announces area sales, specials, events and festivals that are taking place in the Austin County and surrounding area. These announcements are viewed by those from the greater Houston area interested in taking part in small town culture and enjoying the country feel. (These are also prime spots for advertisers to get their message to these potential customers.)

Our website is fully responsive across all viewable devices including computers, notepads and cellphones. This allows viewers the ability to read our articles, watch our videos and keep up with upcoming events whether they are at home or on the go.
