We believe in the power of storytelling through video, especially when it comes to celebrating cultures and communities. Recently, we had the opportunity to shoot video at Tempe Tardeada, an event which honors Hispanic Heritage Month and showcases the rich history and cultural contributions of the Hispanic community in the City of Tempe Government.

Tempe Tardeada included music, dance, arts and crafts booths, face painting, bounce houses and food trucks. Mickey and Minnie Mouse joined the festivities, and we met a dog named Bingo. We weren’t shy—our camera got up close and personal with the singers and musicians, and we wove through dancers from the audience. We also shot time-lapse footage.

A significant aspect of Tempe Tardeada is its commitment to education and community engagement. We visited the booth for Arizona Barrio Stories, an organization dedicated to preserving and sharing Chicano/Mexican history.

Wrapped up a drone flight at a new building under construction in Queen Creek. Navigating through all the obstacles – fencing, lighting and unfinished structures – was a challenge, especially in this heat. A shoutout to the employees on site who were friendly and welcoming as we worked and walked around. One of my favorite moments was swinging by the construction site trailer and loading up bottled water.

It’s ! And if you want to learn about expert public relations, don’t pay for another overpriced conference. Just talk with your dog. Think about it. Dogs p*e on our walls, chew up carpets, rip through couches, sit on our pillows, put their paws on our kitchen counters and interrupt the beginning of every single virtual meeting. And what do we do when they make a mess, cost us money or bark over a client? We think it’s cute and post a picture on social media. Then they go outside and we pick up after them. If another human looks at us even slightly silly, we want to slap them. Dogs have an amazing brand. They’re the real experts.

This summer, I visited The Grand Canyon Of The Yellowstone at Yellowstone National Park. The canyon varies from 800 to 1200 feet in depth and from 1500 to 4000 in width. Its length is about 24 miles. We're setting up for a company town hall live streaming to a global audience. One of the event's objectives was to build excitement and enthusiasm. The interview and employee question and answer segment were non-scripted, creating an authentic and transparent feel. The personalities of the moderator and subject of the event worked in tandem and felt natural. Afterward, it's important for stakeholders to discuss the highlights and what to improve for the next time.

Keith Yaskin was a TV reporter for 17 years, primarily as an investigative journalist. He won three Emmys and three first place Associated Press Awards. The AP once named him Arizona’s TV Reporter of the Year. He graduated from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, where he received the Gary Cummings Memorial Award as the top broadcast student. As a reporter, Keith covered everything from government to business to education. He has covered hurricanes and space trips to Mars and interviewed countless CEOs, public figures and celebrities such as Charlton Heston and B.B. King.

Keith turned his passion for journalism and helping people into working with companies to effectively tell their stories from the inside out. The art of storytelling: That's what makes companies human. Every organization has a story to tell. Keith is president of The Flip Side Communications, which offers video production, employee communications, public relations and media training. Keith has spoken to a variety of organizations including the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce, Better Business Bureau, Arizona State University, International Association of Business Communicators, Public Relations Society of America, Business Wire, International Association of Venue Managers, Arizona Prosecuting Attorneys’ Advisory Council, Kiwanis Club and SCORE.

Loren Yaskin brings to the team a background of both public relations and employee communications. This combination keeps her attuned to both the external and internal needs of companies when communicating with media. Her experience is tied to businesses with household names. She was an internal communications consultant at The Vanguard Group and an employee communications manager at PetSmart. At Edelman Public Relations Worldwide, Loren created and implemented national public relations programs for KFC, Honeywell, Snapple and PetSmart.
