Yes, it’s normal for engagement to decrease during the holidays...
There are fewer people who are online because they are enjoying the season with their loved ones and spending time in the present.
And most of all, at this point in the year, people don’t want to be sold another thing.
They just spent weeks buying gifts for people. Do you really think they want to look at another product? They also don’t want to be taught anything. This is a time for them to take a mental break and enjoy a stress-free holiday. ✨
👉🏻 But this doesn’t mean your engagement HAS to go down.
No, because what your audience really wants to see... is YOU. Low engagement doesn’t have to happen, and the best way to prepare for this time of year is to have your strategy ready for it. If any time is the right time to be more personal online, it is during the holidays.
Get more raw and personal for your audience. Share your WHY, show behind the scenes, show your team’s holiday playlists, post family photos, give client shoutouts, share your New Year goals, and just be in the moment.
Really dive into the authentic content, and you’ll see that your engagement doesn’t have to decrease just because it is the holidays.
🌲 Have you been struggling with low engagement?

Branding Your Business🌿
Becoming more than just a business or a face on the internet takes a lot more than a few random posts a week and some word of mouth from your friends. It takes work and dedication to build a quality brand.
An effective brand strategy puts you ahead of the curve in the competitive markets around your business. So, what DOES "branding" mean, and how is it essential for a small business like yours? A brand encompasses your business name, logo, color palette, company mission, tag line or motto, etc. While branding includes researching and developing your brand to increase awareness and positive association with your products or services. When your customers see your product, designs, logo, colors, etc., they know what to expect from your business.
Consistent branding and a clear, in place strategy will lead to a substantial brand equity or value brought to the products and or services you are offering to your customers. Brand equity is what your brand is worth and is shown with brand loyalty, awareness, associations, and perceived quality. Strong brand equity will allow you to charge more for your brand than identical, competitive, and unbranded products can. -Brand loyalty refers to the positive consumer attitudes towards your business and their commitment to you and your products.
Storytelling in digital marketing addresses the needs of a fast-paced society in which people cut through the fluff and look to receive information faster.
Digital storytelling is no different than traditional storytelling other than how those stories are delivered. Nowadays, many people use online platforms to develop and convey their messages to others.
Whether a company pays for ad space on TikTok or pays an influencer to promote their latest line, a story is being told, and consumers are learning something and building an opinion.
As stated in Forbes, there are three ways storytelling impacts digital marketing:
1. It Helps You Connect With Your Target Audience
With basic knowledge of digital advertising nowadays, we are so accustomed to being bombarded with pop-up ads, display ads, sponsored posts, etc. Our brains are trained to skim content, read, and pay attention only to surface-level information. We focus on only the information we see as necessary and exciting.
Working with an engaging and eye-catching story catches the consumer's eye.
2. It Builds Trust
Storytelling addresses consumers directly; it hits on their pain points and gives answers without being salsey. Promoting a product in a way that fixes an issue that a consumer has allows them to feel like it is meant for them. It builds a level of trust that a "you need this" ad could never reach.
3. It Feels Less Pushy
Consumers tend to shy away from aggressive, in-your-face hard sells. Asking questions, being transparent and more personal allows the consumers to feel like you are friends like they are a part of a larger community of people like them.
To successfully use digital storytelling tactics in your digital marketing strategy, you should be promoting your brand's story. Showing consumers why they should choose you, rather than telling them, builds an emotional connection and loyalty.
Social Media does not only allow us to share our work, promote our products and express our interests, but it also business owners to get directly in front of the consumers we desire as clients or customers!
So how can we organically (aka FREE) get in front of these consumers? Well, it's actually pretty simple:
1.Use and engage with location hashtags - not only is it essential to add a location to your post, but to use location hashtags! These are hashtags in which are used within your consumer's local area. For example, if I want to hit consumers in and around Albany, NY, I can use hashtags such as #upstatenewyork #capitalregionny #albanyny #518eats #schenectady #cliftonpark.
2. Add the location to each post - it is always important as a business, especially location-based (storefront/restaurant or even service provider), to use locations. This not only allows consumers to see your posts under those location pages but also tells Instagram where your locations are and, at the very least, gives consumers an idea of where you are every time they come to your page and look at your posts!
3. Start connecting with clients through social media - following, engaging, commenting, and messaging consumers who may be potential clients or customers is super important. Building a community around your business is the best way to have a strong foundation for future projects. When your consumers feel like they know you for more than just a few pictures you've posted, it develops a loyalty aspect to your business!
4. Join Facebook groups within your niche, communicate with local business organizations, and submit PR letters or upcoming news to local newspapers. It is worthwhile to get your business and your name in front of as many people as you can.
Building brand awareness and recognition can make or break a business. Tell consumers who you are and what you offer but also make it worthwhile for them. Why should they come to your store, eat at your restaurant, hire you
