Ten years ago, Colleen Pausley started a blog called Life on Kaydeross Creek where she shared her talents in home designing. Colleen finds her decor in thrift shops, flea markets, and antique shops. Her style is unique and timeless, which you can see in her cozy Christmas decor.

Colleen recommends you start with one item you own and design around that. She also says use throw pillows and blankets to elevate the festive feeling. Add pops of red and add little details like bows. Then, when the holidays are over, organize your decor so everything is pristine and ready for the next year!

Did you know that Frank Capra's classic film, "It's a Wonderful Life" was based on a true story from Seneca Falls, NY? He visited Seneca Falls frequently, and one day, in a barbershop, learned of a heroic story. A girl, Ruth Dunham, jumped off a bridge in Seneca Falls, for an unknown reason, and began to drown in the river below. Antonio Varacalli,
a 22-year-old Italian immigrant, heard her cries and jumped in. He saved her life, but he himself drowned.

Seneca Falls now has a museum about the movie and this origin story.

Located in Essex County, McKenzie Mountain rises to an elevation of 3,842 feet. The mountain is the part of the Saranac 6, being a Saranac 6er is an important title to many hikers. The mountain was first climbed by Verplanck Colvin in 1878, who likely named the mountain after his guide, Rod McKenzie, who had recently passed.

Another prominent figure who was interested in McKenzie Mountain was Thomas B. Cantwell. Cantwell made many contributions to his community, and in the 1950s he made plans to develop a ski resort on the mountain, but the plans were transferred to work for Whiteface Mountain. Cantwell also named his daughter after the mountain, McKenzie Cantwell Jones, who is now a prominent nurse practitioner at Latham Dermatology in New York's Capital Region.

Walking along the empty streets before the crowds gather to await Santa's arrival, seeing people setting up the entertainment and concession stands, (while the streets are still calm!!), my mind wanders back a few years when this was a much smaller event and we would all gather around the tree and sing Christmas Carols...
Does anybody else remember that?!

In 2007, Nick Fazioli and Jenny Clifton met on New Year's Eve, and as they say, the rest is history. Nick worked in New York City and the following year, Jenny joined him, visiting Saratoga Springs for the bustling scene at the racetrack and concerts. In the fall of 2020, they bought a house on Nelson Avenue to visit and then settled in at the house on 75 Clinton Street.

The house on Clinton Street has a rich history, built in 1847, with a historic build and stories of many past owners. As owners came and went, they would add their own touches to the house, making it the unique and beautiful house it is today. Nick and Jenny also graciously opened their home to the Saratoga Preservation Foundation's annual Historic Homes Tour!
