Well we might just be able to terraform a REAL planet if this is true!!!

The Mars Express orbiter has detected enough water ice buried beneath the Red Planet's equator to cover the entire planet in a shallow ocean if melted.

Who'd want to terraform a place called 2007 OR10?? I say let's call it Rudolf!! - At least in this picture it looks like a red nose. Well perhaps Rudolf was not part of "creation" but at leat it's a mythological character!!!

I consider this to be a sort of "jokes on you" discovery. We've all had the basic info for as long as we like. But we were taught to think in "orbits." The "orbits" go in the order we learned (well mostly, that's part of how Pluto got demoted but ...). Actually most of the time planets are on the other side of the solar system from each other leading to very great separations!!

If Solar Power plants in space were to become a reality, there would be a need for an on-site maintenance crew based in space. Though robots no doubt would be employed to handle as much as possible, it is unlikely they could work un-assisted. The lag time for repairs would be too long if the amount of power was a substantial part of any electrical grid.

Unlikely this will be a "go-fund-me" project. These "Mars One" folks have been happily taking money for a while now!!! Rumors of their demise may be premature. But the likelihood that they'll ever get anything off the Earth is extremely slim!!!

Of course terraforming would be a No-No according to current NASA & ESA space exploration policies. I don't think there's anywhere to apply for permission.
