I got this supposedly mentor, in our first zoom meeting as a student I showed up early. I waited for 10 minutes before I emailed him if we have a meeting that day because the meeting hasn’t started. 30 minutes later he emailed me back that they have an overtime with other student, and if I am ready to come for the zoom. So I replied Yes since I was online the whole time and joined the zoom. I noticed that he didn’t turned on his video so I asked if we need to turn on our video, he said no need some of the student doesn’t turn on the video. He asked me if I know about mentorship, I said that I have some mentors from other class from before that I didnt finished, because I couldn’t handle the longer hours of the class. The end, he cut me off and said that I wasn’t interested in that class, and I was rude and impatience because I didnt wait long enough for them (the other student) to finished, and what if something happens to me like that that they need to cut off the time. He also said that I wasn’t respectful with the time which is a BS because he didnt showed up on time in my time instead had overtime with the other student without emailing me back ASAP but just let me waited 30minutes.

1. You might be the mentor/ teacher but have some kindness or compassion with other people.
2. Be communicative enough if you are responsible enough. The student wouldn’t be successful without a good mentor.
3. Don’t act high and mighty just because you are in the higher rank.
4. Respect in other peoples time too, and don’t assume they are at fault when you are the one showing up late. Say sorry if you must. You don’t know what they’ve been through everyday.
5. We all start in the bottom, so when you go up don’t look down with others instead help them go up.
6. Don’t assume everyone is the same.

PS. The reason I rant this about is for people to have some kindness and understanding understanding with everyone, if you want respect give respect.
That mentor, may assume that I have a good day and that class is the only thing I do for the day. For your info Sir! I wake up at 3 to 3:30am be there at work before 4am. Get off from work at 12:30pm. By 1pm I’m at home changed my clothes and pick up the kids from school at 2:15. Get home by 2:30pm. If the kids want to eat home cooked I will cook but that day, my husband already cooked for us, because we got sick and he knows I have a zoom meeting by 5:30. So I have time that day to recap the lessons from 3:30pm-5pm. By 5pm I am ready for that 5:30 zoom meeting!

Is that mentor right to judge and assume? Hell! No
Is he right to be late? Hell! No
Is he a good mentor? I will not judge him.
