4 week old (tomorrow) growls and gets playful for the first time. Clearly a vicious potato 😂

This is Brewster! His Mama Tessa is a beautiful girl that was a case and is adoptable at the CA Shelter. She needed an emergency c-section, 2 of 5 babies didn't make it and mama didn't produce any milk, needing a for her other 3 babies. I've had them in since a day old. 2 of those babies were too precious for earth, and joined their siblings across the rainbow bridge.

Little Brewster is now solo and is such a fun cute little dude! He will be eligible for foster-to-adopt in a few weeks after weened, and after he's neutered!

I am beyond happy to share our second foster has found his forever home after being with us for 3 weeks! The best part, they're family members of ours and we will get to visit and continue see him grow up. He was so happy to have so many people to love, a cat sister to play with, and a back yard to play in. He just loved getting to run in the grass. He has the cutest zoomies!

Carmela needs your help! 🤎🐕Do you have space in your heart and home for this sweetie?

A few months ago, this beautiful 2 year old pittie girl was adopted from Santa Barbara County Animal Services by someone who wasn't quite as prepared as they thought for life with a dog, especially a shelter dog with their own baggage 💼 who needs a little extra love and attention.

She's an active and playful girl currently living in a Lompoc apartment, and would definitely be better in an active home with a yard for her to run out the wiggles, and play with her favorite ball 🥎 Even a bigger bonus if she has somewhere to play with water because she may have been a fish in her past life 🐟 She pancakes when she sits and she LOVES treats especially peanut butter. With her food motivation and the right person she will be eager to learn. But that person needs to be ready to provide some leash and bathroom training which her adopter wasn't prepared for 🐕‍🦺

Even at 2 years old, shelter dogs all come with their own story 📖 and since they can't talk we don't really get to know that full story. But it's up to us to advocate for them and find the right place for them to grow old 👴👵

Our first foster success ❤️ Miss Eevee was with us for a week. We got her on Christmas Eve from the shelter here in Orcutt and I'm so proud we were able to be a positive part of her story. We even taught her how to sit and be nice to cats while she was with us. I'm even more proud to say she went to her new family today! She's on her way to her forever home in Santa Barbara. She has 2 adorable human sisters.

If you have room in your home and heart for a pet, go visit your local shelter. You can find great dogs and cats, and at our here in Orcutt bunnies, roosters, and right now even a couple bearded dragons.

I want to introduce Bowie 🐕and invite everyone to help me on my mission of getting him into his forever home for Christmas! He's waiting for you at Santa Barbara County Animal Services on Foster Rd. in Orcutt, CA.

This big sweet sausage of a boy was the BEST sleepover guest. He really could be a great addition to basically any family. He loved the kids and just wanted cuddles and pets or a few rounds of fetch, he didn't mind other dogs even though our high energy Border Collie was definitely annoying him. Plus he would do great in a home with cats! We have 3 and he definitely wanted to play with them but didn't chase and he respected their boundaries by patiently waiting for them to warm up and to come to him.

He definitely has a dominant Rottweiler gene in him, however as you can see by the SHOW STOPPING under bite, he is mixed with some other fun things. Even though he is a big dense boy, he does SO WELL on a leash. He is potty trained loves being outside, but that isn't a necessesity for him at all...He doesn't need a lot of space, He would do great as an apartment dog or even traveling in an RV. However prepared for uncontrollable excitement when I see my leash and know it's time for a walk or ride.

He wanted to sleep in bed with us, but when there wasn't enough room selected the floor by our feet to be as close as possible. He just wants loves and cuddles, and needs someone to chill on the couch with this Christmas.

There are so many great dogs like him and Sargent from last week that are desperately looking for their way out of an overwhelmed at capacity shelter. I'm lucky to be able to spend some time with these dogs and give them a break, but it's even better getting to see them go to their forever home.

Meet Sargent! He is adoptable over at Santa Barbara County Animal Services on Foster Road in Orcutt, CA.

He is a very large, but VERY loveable German Shepherd estimated to be about a year and 9 months old.

Part of my goal this week was to spend time with one of the dogs that have been at the shelter the longest. Sarge came to the shelter at the end of August and hasn't found the right home yet.

He is strong but good on a leash, pulls a little to follow his curiosities, but definitely wants to learn. He already knows "sit" pretty well! He is very food motivated while inside, but outside the world is a bit too exciting right now to care much about treats while on a walk.

He was absolutely amazing with kids. Loved to follow and play with them, and was full of kisses. Would be an amazing family house dog. Maybe a little large for apartment living but loves to lay next to you on the couch.

His only real downside is he currently seems reactive to dogs on a leash. He was fine and payed no attention when walking next to fenced in or kenneled dogs, but wasn't at tolerant to seeing other dogs on leashes around him.

Every week I'm trying to go spend time with a dog from the local shelters. Last week's dog got adopted before I could post about him! I'm hoping week can work on finding Sarge the perfect home.

The same thing happens with neural pathways, in our brains, when we have the same experiences, over and over. Whether those experiences are good or bad, our brains create a path because it knows what to do with those experiences. So like when you look at the stove and you *know* it’s hot, that’s because of a neural pathway in your brain, that learned long ago that stoves are hot.

So if your neural pathways tell you “love is hot”, your nervous system is going to pull away anytime it starts to feel love. But we can “rewire” those neural pathways by exposing our nervous systems to the path we want it to rewire to."

I had to share this insight my bestie over at Healing Olympus shared with me tonight. Some of our deep emotional conversations are my favorite. I love their brain and how it work so similar to mine.
