Detectives Arrest Del Rey Elementary Employee for Child S*x Abuse

Detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s S*x Crimes Unit have arrested 55 year old Alejandro Garcia of Selma. He has been booked into the Fresno County Jail on multiple charges of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 year old. His bail is set at $120,000.

On Tuesday, Fresno County Sheriff’s dispatchers took a call regarding a child who may have been subjected to s*xual abuse at school. Detectives responded to the child’s home and spoke with her parents. Detectives learned the child told her parents a janitor at her school, Alejandro “Alex” Garcia, had engaged in inappropriate behavior with her. After gathering details, detectives contacted and arrested Garcia, who has been working as a janitor at Del Rey Elementary School.

The Sanger Unified School District released the following statement.

“The Sanger Unified School District is aware of this investigation and is fully coopering with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office. After being made aware of the investigation, district administrators immediately placed the employee on unpaid leave. The district has sent a letter home to its families informing them of this investigation. Student safety is our top priority and we have support measures in place to assist all students. We encourage all of our children to communicate any concerns they have right away to a trusted adult.”

Due to the nature of this investigation, there is always a possibility of there being more victims who have not reported similar incidents involving Garcia.
