Happy Birthday to my sister Samantha! We were so lucky to spend time with her and her fam recently in Florida. When my godson Jordan refers to the Stone siblings he says, "Cody is the funny one, Matt is in the drawing one, J.R. is the strong one, and Sam is the beautiful one!"

This weekend marks 9 years since Jordan’s kidney transplant! A day we will forever celebrate. 9 years since Victoria Myer gave Jordan the gift of life by giving him her kidney.

I feel bad because I honestly didn’t initially remember. It wasn’t until Facebook memories popped up on my phone last night that I realized what day it was. By that time I was at home with Jordan. We were both kicked back on the couch and I decided to show him past posts about this and many of the comments from people. I showed him a Facebook Live we did five years ago with his family members explaining what had happened. He had the biggest smile on his face. He has been healthy of late and we are so blessed for that.

You never know what tomorrow will bring but the view sure does look grand. Jordan’s strength still inspires me every day and the fact that he is going strong 9 years later is just amazing. Thank you Victoria, thank you doctors, thank you nurses, and thank you God!

California Governor Gavin Newsom issued an executive order Thursday to direct state agencies on how to remove homeless encampments, a month after a Supreme Court ruling allowing cities to enforce bans on sleeping outside in public spaces.

Beware of the HEAT!

H-O-T-T-O-G-O, It’s too hot to gooOoOooo (outside!)

We know we just posted a picture of the thermometer, but can you spot the difference? We’ll give you a hint: IT SAYS IT’S 667 DEGREES OUTSIDE.

The thermometer display at Furnace Creek Visitor Center stopped working while displaying 667°F. Park staff say it was resetting itself after a power bump when the power completely went off during a now resolved outage that started Saturday, July 13.

Right before that, Death Valley National Park reached at least 125°F (51.7°C) for nine consecutive days, July 4-12. Average high temperatures in July are 117°F (47°F). The recent heat wave included three daily heat records and peaked at 129.3°F (53.9°C) on July 7. This was the park’s second-longest streak of high temperatures at or above 125 degrees, just behind the ten-day streak measured in 1913.

David Dutch, the 57-year-old U.S. Marine who was one of the shooting victims at the Trump rally on Saturday, is no longer in a medically-induced coma.

Dutch had been shot in the chest and liver, according to the Marine Corps League of Pennsylvania, but has now been upgraded from critical to stable condition, the organization said.

The other injured victim, age 74, has also been upgraded from critical to stable condition, officials said.
