At 78 years old, I never imagined my life would take a sudden, dramatic turn. I was sitting at home, enjoying a quiet afternoon, when the doorbell rang. I wasn't expecting anyone, so I went to the door, curious and a little surprised. But when I opened up, I was almost left breathless — standing there was Nathan, my first love, the man who had shattered my heart all those years ago.

As I was about to get down from the bus, I heard a sob and stopped. I peered into the last seat and realized a kid was still there.
"Hey, kid," I called out to the little boy. "You ain't going to class today?"
He sobbed and shook his head.
"What's the matter, boy? Are you alright?" I asked. He seemed so frightened.
Suddenly, I noticed the boy was hiding his hands. Now that was really scary. "What are you hiding there, buddy?" I asked. "Is something bothering you? Tell me."
With that, the boy showed his hands.

My husband was late from work again. In the morning, his phone was buzzing nonstop. Curiosity got the better of me, and I picked it up. It was an alert from our bank: "TRANSACTION DECLINED DUE TO INSUFFICIENT FUNDS."
I opened the banking app and almost dropped the phone. All our savings were gone. My heart raced as I tried to piece it together. Then I saw it—a series of large transfers to an account I didn't recognize.
I woke my husband up. "WHAT'S GOING ON? WHERE IS OUR MONEY?" I asked.
His face went pale, and he couldn't meet my eyes.

Cleaning out my husband's home office two days before Christmas while he was at work, I decided to organize all the junk in his closet. That's when I stumbled upon a red gift box. My first thought? "Oh, my Christmas present!" But nope. It had a note attached that read, "LOVE YOU, JULIE!"
Spoiler alert: I'M NOT JULIE.
Inside the box? Jewelry. And let's just say I wasn't about to let this slide. I took the box to a handy friend of mine who usually fixes furniture but can tweak just about anything. I requested a special upgrade for the box.
Once it was ready, I put it back in the closet and kept a close eye on my husband. Sure enough, on Christmas Day, he grabbed the box and left, claiming he had to stop by the office.

MY NEIGHBOR DOUSED MY CAR WITH WATER IN FREEZING WEATHER BECAUSE MY "OLD JUNK" POLLUTES THE AIR IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD
