Fortunately, this is not our home screen so it doesn't count as a first impression. We are a group of seemingly Awkward people who like to read, write, and have conversations about reading and writing. We can be quite social if you get to know us--albeit every once in a while we need to go home and avoid all other humans. Our goal here at Awkword Press is to provide a friendly and professional med
ium for reading and publishing things that could only have been produced by people who are awkward., people who, like us, struggle to play the networking game. People who feel out of place in a world that continuous to favor straight white guys . . . this is awkward. You should walk it off. We're not leaving. . . We're used to this . . . As we were saying, we want to support the artistic endeavors of those who don't fit under "mainstream" categories. We want people with unique voices, those who come for the margins. Let's just say that if this were a school dance, we would want to hear from the dateless, the sidelined: the ignored and overlooked. We want to show up to the dance and say, "Oh, you weren't expecting us? Well, that's awkward because we're not leaving, so . . . "
Oh, and I should mention that we specialize in fiction, poetry, and comics published both online and in print. How do you know if you're awkward? Well, if you have your doubts, odds are everyone else doesn't . . .
