Adding stickers to my first sketch book. Had to start with pieces from and , two unbelievably talented artists who serve as inspirations in the medium. Ever since my health scare during SDCC, my heart and anxiety have been acting up on and off. I’ve found that sketching dramatically reduces my stress levels and helps regulate my heart rate. I’m going in for further testing next week, but until then, sketching feels like a lifesaver

One of the brief Monday mornings I have off all year and decided to spend it at in downtown. Easily one of the BEST comic shops in San Diego. Relaxed atmosphere, incredible displays, epic comic grails, vintage toys, games and some of the friendliest and knowledgeable staff you will ever have the privilege of meeting. Had a blast chatting comics and store dynamics with . If you’re ever in San Diego, Now Or Never Comics is a MUST visit

Great sale over today. Found some great books at even better prices. In shock that I didn’t know there was a Wolverine comic written by Walter Simonson and illustrated by Mike Mignola! Also met and snagged a sweet Wolverine sticker from him. A very Wolverine centric day, but funny enough, that’s not the character I’ve commissioned from Kevin Tran for the collab X-Men piece…

Finished out what felt like an ridiculously long work day by coming home to discover my Dracula Kickstarter pledge had arrived! and .jose absolutely DEMOLISHED this book. One of the most beautifully horrific comics you will EVER come across. Can’t wait for book 2!

If you’ve followed the podcast for a while, you’ll know about my love for Invincible. Last SDCC, I found the final issue I needed to complete the run (aside from a 1st print or issue 1. I have multiple later printings of the first issue though). I even got to tell Robert Kirkman in person at SDCC last year that I had just completed the run the day before our interview. Well fast forward a year and con funds were a little tight due to some unexpected expenses. I decided to sell the non key issues from the run in order to pay for some convention fun… and I made surprisingly more than expected. I not only made enough for the convention, but had a solid chunk leftover to throw into my bank account for future comic related fun. I no longer have a complete Invincible run, but due to selling those books, I have signed and sketched comics from some of my favorite creators, multiple X-Men commissions, con exclusives, new stickers for the comic folio, and priceless memories with some@of the best comic creators in the business. Worth it. Shoutout to Jeremy from for managing all the sales, because I don’t have the patience to manage all that on my own 🤣

Had the pleasure of running into at SDCC. We had a great conversation about art, comics and their fantastic products. They were kind enough to gift me their latest product, the silver age size capsule! Comic capsules are made from quality materials that feel good in your hands and look even better on your wall. They fit perfectly in my BCW shortbox for safe storage and are easily mounted for display. I can never go back to top loaders after testing comic capsules. I highly recommend them for comic fans looking to store or display their books!

I used to love drawing. Prior to SDCC, I got the itch to start again and had a blast dusting off the artistic cobwebs. I decided to do what I’m calling “Bad Art Cards” for some friends who came into town for SDCC. This little project turned into a much needed distraction during all the layovers in airports I had leading up to the con. I am definitely planning to draw more and will bring some cards to each con I go to from now on as fun little giveaways. So if you see me at a con, ask for one 😁

The last month has been a complete whirlwind. Life has recently felt very chaotic. Between traveling back and forth out of state for private family matters, a health scare and SDCC, I haven’t had a chance to just rest. Amongst all the chaos, I received an unexpected package from my good friend . I was blown away by his generosity to send me the Magneto/Sentinel piece of his that he knew I loved as well as the Christian Ward variant for his book The Principles Of Necromancy, amazing stickers from the very same book and rounding it out, the next book in the Vampire Batman trilogy which we’re planning on covering together on the podcast very soon, Batman: Red Rain. This care package meant more to me than Eamon could’ve realized. Not only is he an incredible artist and creator in the comic space, but he’s one of the best people I know. If you don’t already follow Eamon, remedy that immediately. If you haven’t picked up The Principles Of Necromancy from , correct that mistake. I’m very grateful for the amazing people I have met in the comic book community because of our little podcast. Thanks again to Eamon for being the absolute best.
