Someone asked my the other day who my Idols were on bass guitar. They were a little surprised because they thought I was a “Rock” bass player.

so here they are—

Carol Kaye- Main thing I learned from her music is Timing and Feel!!!!! Be ONE with the drummer!!!!

Steve Harris- main thing i learned was the gallop and the arpeggios

Larry Graham- Slap and pop when its tasteful

John Deacon- smooth scales until its time to hit hard

Tommy Shannon- It ain’t all about the blues scale!! It’s theory

Verdine White- tone tone tone and did I mention tone

Donald “duck” Dunn- again like Carol Kaye- timing and feel.

Terry Hale- plays for George Strait. Play smooth as silk when you need to. Add alittle bump when you need to. kick with the kick drum when you need to. play to the song.

So these are my main influences in Bass!!!!!
