SAN ANTONIO (January 7, 2025) — The City of San Antonio’s Department of Arts & Culture has opened the Intent to Apply window for its fiscal year 2026 Artist Grants. San Antonio-based artists may apply for funding, available in $7,500 and $15,000 tiers, to support the creation of new work. Offered annually, Artists Grants are available to individual artists as well as those working in collaborations, collectives and ensembles. Applicants must submit an Intent to Apply by February 7, 2025 to gain access to the full grant application (open January 13 - February 21, 2025).

The program, established in 2022, aims to support a diverse portfolio of artists working across San Antonio. Grants are for the production of new, original and high-quality art to be presented in the city. Artists of all disciplines, including Literary Arts, Media Arts, Multi-Disciplinary, Performing Arts and Visual Arts are encouraged to apply.

“Artist grants are fantastic opportunities for artists at all stages of their careers. Whether you are a first-time or returning applicant, we welcome the opportunity to connect with you,” said Department of Arts & Culture Director Krystal Jones.

Artists who submit an Intent to Apply and who meet the program’s eligibility criteria will then have access to the full application that opens on January 13. Timeline:

Now – February 7: Intent to Apply window
January 13 – February 21: Application window
March – April: Application panel review
June: Notify applicants of funding recommendations
June 26: Funding recommendations reviewed by Arts Funding Committee and San Antonio Arts Commission

🚫🎙️ Big changes are here! 🎉 After much thought, I’ve decided to wrap up the podcast, these past 5 seasons have been so great! I’ve met wonderful people, spread the word for amazing organizations, and kept a conversation going on so many great things happening within the community! I have also, scheduled, edited, and ran the SM on my own. This year was super hectic between going back active duty, family health issues, and running myself into the ground, but that doesn’t mean the conversation ends! 🙌 This page is now your go-to social media hub for all things Chicano culture, art, and community! 🌎✨

I’m excited to share stories, spotlight artists, and explore our rich heritage together. Let’s keep the spirit alive and thriving!

Had such a great time Chicano Elegance Gala. I was so overwhelmed seeing so many beautiful brown faces come together to have a good time, enjoy being in one another’s presence, and showing off their talents! It was great meeting people I had interviewed but never met in person, as well as making new contacts! Hope to be there again next year. Big shout out to Elvira! 🤎🤎🤎
